THE "SJU" (SKIN-JOB UNIVERSE) TIMELINE

by jamese-kent | created - 8 months ago | updated - 2 weeks ago | Public

A fan-based, chronological order for the Terminator, Predator, Blade Runner, Alien, X-Files, and Firefly shared universe. (Against my better judgment, the AVP movies have been included in this timeline, though there's even more finagling to logically place them in this timeline/universe than the other films.)

1997 AD: The events of the movie occur during the summer of 1997, before August 29, 1997. An "alien (xenomorph)" skull can be seen in the Predator trophy room on board the ship, establishing the presence of "alien/xenomorph" creatures in the Predator universe, albeit a different branch than those created by David between "Prometheus" and "Alien: Covenant."

Votes: 185,176

2000 AD, "Salvage": Agent John Doggett and Agent Dana Scully make reference to the T-1000 model Terminator while Doggett investigates a company experimenting with "smart metals." Following along the same thought as the Schaefer/T-800 theory, SkyNet utilizes Doggett's biographical information from his military (Marine), law enforcement (NYPD), and FBI files to construct the T-1000 Terminator.

Director: Alan Taylor | Stars: Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jason Clarke, Emilia Clarke, Jai Courtney

Votes: 236,923 | Gross: $89.76M

2029 AD: In the second timeline, after the events of "Salvation," SkyNet takes on human form. It travels to 1995, terminates the T-1000 and Guardian T-800, allowing Judgment Day to occur on August 29, 1997 once more, all of which technically is a new timeline. It waited to infiltrate the Resistance, then converted John Connor into the T-3000 in 2029, when the movie officially starts. It then sent a T-1000 to 1973 to terminate Sarah Connor as a child, but she was saved by a reprogrammed T-800, possibly sent by Katherine Brewster. Kyle Reese develops memories of his childhood in another timeline as he is sent to 1984, convinces Sarah to travel to 2017 after he arrives and discovers the timeline has been changed once more, and they terminate SkyNet for good. When Kyle first meets "Pops," Sarah's T-800, Kyle refers to Pops as a "skin-job," a term never used in the Terminator movies, but is prevalent in the Blade Runner movies. My Theory, and the glue that holds some of this timeline together, is this: Sarah and Pops dispatched the original T-800 and Sarah's T-1000, establishing a new timeline in which there is no Terminator influence until 2014 (when John Connor as the T-3000 begins work on the new and improved SkyNet). This opens doors for companies such as the Tyrell Corporation, and eventually the Weyland Corporation, to thrive, especially after the setback Cyberdine Systems undergoes with the destruction of Genisys (the new SkyNet). So, Kyle refers to Pops as "skin-job," a term he remembers from his new childhood where he was familiar with Tyrell's Replicants, enacted off world in 2016, as well as being referred to often as "skin-jobs."

10. Alien vs. Predator (2004)

PG-13 | 101 min | Action, Adventure, Horror

29 Metascore

Director: Paul W.S. Anderson | Stars: Sanaa Lathan, Lance Henriksen, Raoul Bova, Ewen Bremner

Votes: 174,857 | Gross: $80.28M

2004 AD: The events of AVP take place during October 2004. Due to the T-800 of "Rise of the Machines" arriving on 07/24/2004 and Judgment Day occurring just days later, AVP takes place in the latest, altered timeline. In the opening scene, a satellite branded with "Weyland Industries" is introduced as "Weyland Corporation Satellite PS12," possibly alluding to the Corporation being a subsidiary of Industries at the time. Charles Bishop Weyland doesn't mention any children he's leaving behind, only that he wants to leave a legacy. Records show that Peter Weyland's father was an engineer but make no mention of Charles Bishop. It could be concluded that, if AVP is part of the new timeline, Peter Weyland may be a distant cousin of Charles Bishop Weyland and acquired ownership of Weyland Industries, reshaping it and "founding" the new Weyland Corporation in 2012. Peter Weyland's acquisition of Weyland Industries would afford him knowledge of the Antarctic expedition of 2004, spurring on his research while keeping the Bouvetøya Island incident classified.
