My first watch from 2014 films, according to IMDb dates that is ... What a sumptuous film; resplendent in colour and style and cameos from a great range of actors. My only sorrow was that Owen Wilson featured so little.

The Mayhem is a skateboarding move. This is a fascinating study of two brothers, possibly with mental health issues, who became skateboarding phenomena. I was sucked into the film as the skateboarding became more intense and more closely aligned to their fragile senses of self.

This was billed as a black comedy but it's not. It's a very dark film that verges on psychological horror when one considers the impact of the aunts on Badia. The characters are well drawn as is their limited society and the sets and costumes are beautiful. It's a sad tale.
