The Bandit is hired on to run a tractor trailer full of beer over state lines, in hot pursuit by a pesky sheriff.
Votes: 41,909 | Gross: $126.74M
Not much in the head but plenty beneath the hood, Smokey and the Bandit is infectious fun with plenty of car wrecks to keep your eyes glued.
2. Hooper (1978)
PG | 99 min | Action, Comedy
Hollywood aging stuntman Sonny Hooper wants to prove that he's still got what it takes to be a great professional in this risky and under-recognized line of work.
Votes: 5,635 | Gross: $78.00M
Individually, the performances in this story of three generations of Hollywood stuntmen are a delight. And Hal Needham's direction and stunt staging are wonderfully crafted.
3. The Villain (1979)
PG | 89 min | Comedy, Western
Facing hanging, a bank robber makes a deal with the corrupt banker to avoid execution in exchange for a dirty assignment.
Rarely has so much talent been used to so little purpose.

PG | 100 min | Action, Comedy
The Bandit goes on another cross-country run, transporting an elephant from Florida to Texas. And, once again, Sheriff Buford T. Justice is on his tail.
Votes: 13,898 | Gross: $66.13M
How can I say it's lazy when it has 50 trucks doing stunts in it? Because it takes a lot less thought to fill up a movie with stunts than to create a comedy that's genuinely funny.
5. The Cannonball Run (1981)
PG | 95 min | Action, Comedy, Sport
A wide variety of eccentric competitors participate in a wild and illegal cross-country road race. However, the eccentric entrants will do anything to win the road race, including low-down, dirty tricks.
Votes: 31,134 | Gross: $72.18M
The Cannonball Run is an abdication of artistic responsibility at the lowest possible level of ambition. In other words, they didn't even care enough to make a good lousy movie.
6. Megaforce (1982)
PG | 99 min | Action, Sci-Fi
Story about a rapid deployment defense unit that is called into action whenever freedom is threatened.
Votes: 3,057 | Gross: $5.68M
Hal Needham's Megaforce is warmed-over action adventure with all the steam taken out of it.
7. Stroker Ace (1983)
PG | 96 min | Action, Comedy, Romance
The title character, a popular NASCAR driver, clashes with the fried-chicken mogul that sponsors his racing team.
Votes: 3,333 | Gross: $13.00M
Burt Reynolds used to make movies about people's lifestyles. Now he seems more interested in making movies that fit in with his own lifestyle.
8. Cannonball Run II (1984)
PG | 108 min | Action, Comedy
The original characters from The Cannonball Run (1981) race across the country once more in various cars and trucks.
Votes: 14,073 | Gross: $28.08M
Cannonball Run II is one of the laziest insults to the intelligence of moviegoers that I can remember. Sheer arrogance made this picture.
9. Rad (1986)
PG | 91 min | Drama, Sport
The story of one young man, Cru Jones, who has the intensity and desire to win a BMX race called Helltrack.
Votes: 4,610 | Gross: $2.02M
The whole thing reminds you more of an overanxious teacher or coach, taking a few slang words and repeating them endlessly in a doomed attempt to "relate."
10. Body Slam (1986)

M. Harry Smilac is a down-on-his-luck music manager who is having a hard time attracting talent and booking gigs for his band, Kicks (The most recent of the gigs is a Dairy Queen opening!!)... See full summary »
