1. Call the Midwife (2012– )
TV-PG | 60 min | Drama, History
Chronicles the lives of a group of midwives living in East London in the late-1950s to mid-1960s.
Those not completely sold on this series should watch this episode, which captures the humor woven throughout these womens' lives as well as the extreme risk and emotional pain involved in the world of childbirth and parenthood.
Airs: 8pm Sunday, April 5 on PBS.
2. A.D. The Bible Continues (2015)
44 min | Drama
Follows the book of ACTS. Shows the complete message of Christ and the transformation of Saul to Paul and how the high priest of Judea does not believe in what has taken place after the Crucifixion of Christ.
This is the next chapter of Mark Burnett's hit miniseries "The Bible," in which the disciples of Christ are branded as transformative revolutionaries and hunted.
Premieres: 9pm Sunday, April 5 on NBC.
TV-MA | 50 min | Drama, Fantasy, Thriller
Salem's leading witch, Mary Sibley, faces both foreign and domestic challenges to her authority.
The opening salvo of this season's Witch War is sensual, bloody and deeply intriguing. As much as we love the fiery dance between Janet Montgomery's Mary Sibley and Ashley Madekwe's Tituba, viewing the introduction of new characters played by Stuart Townsend and the fabulous Lucy Lawless are what finally pushed me to set a season pass on my DVR.
Premieres: 10pm Sunday, April 5 on WGN America.
TV-14 | 48 min | Drama
Don is oddly drawn to a diner waitress as he learns about the loss of an old acquaintance, Peggy and Joan are disrespected by a chauvinistic client, and Cosgrove is in for big changes after his biggest business connection retires.
Once again, "Mad Men" manages to be period perfect and timeless in the same stroke, evoking a sense of finality -- and even so, hope -- in the first of its last seven episodes, which is tellingly titled "Severance."
Premieres: 10pm Sunday, April 5 on AMC.
The Originals (2013–2018)
TV-14 | 42 min | Drama, Fantasy, Horror
Klaus must put aside his mistrust for Freya in order to save Rebekah's life.
A series that incorporates all of the supernatural superstars -- werewolves, witches, and vampires -- creates a tough juggling act, and yet this series has shown itself up to the task of maintaining a high level of storytelling without losing its edge.
Airs: 8pm Monday, April 6 on The CW.
Bates Motel (2013–2017)
TV-14 | 43 min | Drama, Horror, Mystery
Norma turns to Romero for guidance when she finds herself in an unexpected position of power
Goodness, Norma and Norman's relationship just gets creepier with each passing episode.
Airs: 9pm Monday, April 6 on A&E.
Better Call Saul (2015– )
TV-14 | 50 min | Crime, Drama
Jimmy seizes an opportunity to reconnect with an old friend; Chuck adjusts to a new way of life.
This show has had a terrific first season, which makes the finale not-to-be missed. Fortunately it's already been picked up for a sophomore run, so that removes a bit of the anxiety from watching this part of the story come to a close.
Season Finale: 10pm Monday, April 6 on AMC.
iZombie (2015– )
Liv and Let Clive
TV-14 | 42 min | Comedy, Crime, Drama
Clive refuses Liv's help when one of his former criminal contacts is murdered.
Not only do we get to find out more about Clive, but Liv gets a knockdown, no-punches-pulled action sequence at the episode's climax. Enjoy!
Airs: 9pm Tuesday, April 7 on The CW.
9. The Real Housewives of New York City (2008– )
TV-14 | 44 min | Reality-TV
A fast-paced reality show that follows several incredibly busy and ambitious Manhattan women. Watch as they balance envious social calendars, challenging careers, and motherhood, with the hustle and bustle of the big city all around.
Normally watching this show is reminiscent to having one's peace interrupted by a bunch of crows arguing in an alley over who gets to claim the corpse of a rat, but it may be worth tuning in to see how the return of Bethenny Frankel affects the ensemble's chemistry.
Premieres: 9pm Tuesday, April 7 on Bravo.
Weird Loners (2015)
TV-14 | 24 min | Comedy
Caryn visits her grandmother to tell her why she broke off her wedding engagement.
While I'm pretty sure this series won't last, the "weird dance" the title refers to is utterly charming.
Airs: 9:30pm Tuesday, April 7 on Fox.
TV-MA | 43 min | Action, Crime, Drama
Raylan and Boyd head for the mountains to find Ava, whose plan to escape with Uncle Zachariah has hit a dead end. But will Avery Markham get to her first?
This is the penultimate episode of this series, which means you can pretty much count on something terrible happening. In other words, it's a must-watch.
Airs: 10pm Tuesday, April 7 on FX.
12. The Americans (2013–2018)
TV-MA | 44 min | Crime, Drama, Mystery
At the height of the Cold War two Russian agents pose as your average American couple, complete with family.
Although this show has struggled in the ratings, the plot this season has never been more tense. The good news is, it has been picked up for another season.
Airs: 10pm Wednesday, April 8 on FX.
13. Big Time in Hollywood, FL (2015)
22 min | Comedy
Follows two delusional brothers, who are self-proclaimed filmmakers, as they are kicked out of their parent's house and end up on an epic cinematic journey.
This show is delightfully insane. Do yourself a huge favor and tune in.
Airs: 10:30pm Wednesday, April 8 on Comedy Central.
14. The Comedians (2015)
22 min | Comedy
A veteran comedian is reluctantly paired with a younger, edgier comedian for a late-night comedy sketch show.
The concept may be a tad meta for some viewers, but would you pass up the chance to watch Billy Crystal and Josh Gad play off one another? We wouldn't.
Premieres: 10pm Thursday, April 9 on FX.
15. Louie (2010–2015)
TV-MA | 22 min | Comedy, Drama
The life of Louie C.K., a divorced comedian living in New York with two kids.
The form-shattering comedy rarely disappoints, and always serves to remind us of why Louis C.K. is one of the finest, most original thinkers in the entertainment business.
Premieres: 10:30pm Thursday, April 9 on FX.
16. Daredevil (2015–2018)
TV-MA | 54 min | Action, Crime, Drama
A blind lawyer by day, vigilante by night. Matt Murdock fights the crime of New York as Daredevil.
An official IMDb Pick. View our April list to find out more.
Premieres: Friday, April 10 on Netflix.
Outlander (2014– )
By the Pricking of My Thumbs
TV-MA | 59 min | Drama, Fantasy, Romance
Jamie hopes the Duke of Sandringham can help remove the price on his head.
Though Claire is beyond the reach of Black Jack Randall -- for the time being -- in this episode we discover the cost of envy and whether her trust in those closest to her has been misplaced.
Airs: 9pm Saturday, April 11 on Starz.
