Friends Of The Time Tunnel (by StuOz)

by StuOz | created - 2 months ago | updated - 1 month ago | Public

What does friends of The Time Tunnel mean? It means I love the 30 episode cult series - The Time Tunnel (1966-67) - so much that it demands of friends list.

It is all here - other Irwin Allen shows, period dramas, other time travel shows, other Whit Bissell shows, etc.

19 of these titles are in fact US westerns made mainly in the 50s/60s/70s. The Time Tunnel had a few episodes set in the wild west (Billy The Kid being my favourite TT western) so this genre seems at home in this list.

Nine or ten of these titles could be defined as Ben-Hur type historical epics as TT went down that road with the likes of Revenge Of the Gods, etc.

Whit Bissell (Kirk) is my favourite regular cast member in TT so I have included a couple of his best titles - 1957's I Was A Teenage Werewolf, 1963's The Outer Limits, 1978's The Incredible Hulk.

Saturday morning kid's show - Bigfoot and Wildboy (1977) - is included in the list because it had the same frantic action style as TT (Bigfoot even had an episode with aliens in silver suits, just like TT).

Four volcano disaster movies make the list because TT had a volcano story (Crack Of Doom).

A few 30s/40s/50s movie serials are included here as Time Tunnel (like Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea) is rooted in cliff-hanger serials. Irwin Allen even defined Tunnel as a "jumping, running and fighting show" (or something like that). This all started in the serials - running, fighting, explosions, cliff-hangers, action, action!

Every title is here for a reason, think hard and you will find it.
