Aloha Spirit Prevails at Maui Film Festival
When Barry Rivers launched the Maui Film Festival two decades ago, he didn’t have a lot going for him. He was a documentary filmmaker whose previous festival experience had been as an attendee, and he didn’t have much money. But he did have one ace in the hole: a tropical island paradise.

The festival hasn’t had trouble attracting top-tier talent over the years, from big names such as Clint Eastwood, Pierce Brosnan, Mike Myers, Bryan Cranston and Woody Harrelson to emerging stars including Adam Driver, Andrew Garfield, Michael B. Jordan and Brie Larson.

“The aloha spirit of the Maui Film Fest is true to the excellent vibes of the island,” says “Booksmart” director Olivia Wilde, who received the Shining Star Award for her acting in 2011 and is returning to receive its Lights! Camera! Passion! Award on June 16. “Everyone involved is so lovely and kind, the food could not be more delicious,

Shrek: Donkey's 10 Most Hilarious Quotes

When the first Shrek movie was released in 2001, it was clear that the animation game would never be the same. With a star-studded cast featuring Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy, Cameron Diaz, and John Lithgow, Shrek took familiar fairytales and totally turned them on their heads, adding in slapstick humor and larger than life characters you would never find in any other story, fairytale or otherwise.

The films were clearly meant to follow Mike Myers' Shrek, a misanthropic ogre who finds himself thrust into the role of a hero as he goes on familiar fairytale adventures. But while Shrek may be the lead character of the franchise, there's no way to deny that Eddie Murphy's Donkey, Shrek's devoted and hilarious sidekick, is the real star of the films. With sharp wit, pop culture commentary, and seemingly endless enthusiasm, Donkey is Shrek's secret weapon. Here, we look back at Donkey's best lines.

Why Dana Carvey Says He Left Hollywood in the Late ’90s — And What He’s Doing Now

Why Dana Carvey Says He Left Hollywood in the Late ’90s — And What He’s Doing Now
Dana Carvey had audiences cracking up at his George Bush impression and his Church Lady character during seven seasons of Saturday Night Live, and created unforgettable catchphrases with Mike Myers in two Wayne’s World movies. But at the peak of his career in the late ‘90s, Carvey stepped away to raise his two sons Dex and Thomas, now 28 and 26, respectively, with his wife since 1983, Paula Zwagerman.

“I have friends who get stressed about fading or not being as hot. I never quite engaged that,” Carvey, 64, tells People in this week’s issue. “I have a lot of drive to

Walk of Fame Honoree Alan Arkin Talks Journey From Second City to ‘Kominsky Method’
Alan Arkin turned 85 earlier this year, yet he has always seemed timeless. With a career spanning more than 60 years, it’s difficult to fathom when there was ever a time when Arkin wasn’t part of the culture. He was an early member of the Second City theater troupe before making his Oscar-nominated film debut in the timely “The Russians Are Coming! The Russians Are Coming!” in 1966. He gave iconic performances in seminal movies; he terrified Audrey Hepburn (and audiences) in “Wait Until Dark”; starred in Mike Nichols’ take on Joseph Heller’s “Catch-22”; starred and produced the comedy classic “The In-Laws”; and lent his voice to the 1982 cult classic “The Last Unicorn.” And that was all before his Oscar-winning turn in “Little Miss Sunshine,” which kicked off a renaissance of sorts for the actor, who earned another nomination for best picture winner “Argo” and now stars on the heralded

Shrek's 10 Funniest Quotes

Shrek is one of the most iconic characters in the history of animated movies. In fact, he’s easily one of the most iconic characters in the history of cinema, period. Mike Myers took the lead character in a satire of fairy tales that was, at the time, considered to be risky, and turned him into a deep, engaging, and lovable guy.

Listen: Topher Grace on How ‘Saturday Night Live’ May Be TV’s Most Important Show
Topher Grace believes we may take “Saturday Night Live” for granted. After nearly 45 years, the late-night sketch series has become such an institution that it’s easy to forget the program’s unique place in TV history.

“There’s something special about ‘SNL’ and how it’s been in the same place the whole time,” Grace told Variety‘s My Favorite Episode podcast. “A lot of it is the genius of Lorne Michaels, which is that show is so successful he could have moved it. He could have put it in a bigger studio. There’s something so small about that studio space, it’s hard to make things look great. That’s the point of it. He gives it this live, tactile quality that has captured over the last four and a half decades what America is going through. It’s so immediate, there’s nothing else like it.

Why Dana Carvey Originally Quit Wayne's World Weeks Before Shooting
Wayne's World was nearly a very different movie. Dana Carvey says that he actually quit a few weeks before production was set to begin. The comedian plays Garth Algar in the movie alongside his Saturday Night Live co-star Mike Myers, who plays Wayne Campbell. The comedy was a huge success and built off of the popularity of the Wayne and Garth characters from SNL. However, Carvey didn't feel like he was being given a fair shake when it came down to the script.

In a new interview with satellite radio personality Howard Stern, Dana Carvey was asked about working on Wayne's World. Mike Myers was writing the script with Bonnie Turner and Terry Turner while Carvey was throwing in his ideas. However, there were some changes made. Carvey explains.

"Mike was writing it, and I was putting stuff in. Then I would see that the stuff wasn't in anymore. And so I actually,

Dana Carvey Says He Forgives Mike Myers for Allegedly Stealing Dr. Evil Character
An apparent rift existed between Mike Myers and Dana Carvey for years — and a big reason revolved around the diabolical fictional character Dr. Evil.

Carvey, a Saturday Night Live alum who became a household name along with Myers for their Wayne's World sketches and films, dropped by Howard Stern's SiriusXM Satellite Radio program on Wednesday.

There, he opened up about the animosity he felt toward Myers for allegedly stealing the Dr. Evil character to use in the Austin Powers films. Carvey claimed he was the first SNL castmember to do an impression of show creator and executive producer, Lorne Michaels....

Yeah, Baby! The 10 Most Hilarious Austin Powers Movie Quotes

Like pretty well any Mike Myers movie, all of the Austin Powers movies are seriously quotable. Anyone who enthusiastically exclaims “yeah, baby!” is quoting the iconic ‘60 character from the series, along with other popular lines like “one million dollars”, “fire the laser!,” or “moley, moley, moley,” mimicking that time when Austin couldn’t help but fixate on a prominent mole on a man’s face.

Start the Oscar countdown: ‘Surreal’ Elton John biopic ‘Rocketman’ will blast off without the burdens that ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ faced [Watch Video]
It is hard not to compare “Rocketman,” which officially takes off in theaters on May 31 but will have a special early nationwide Fandango showing on May 18, to last year’s tune-filled phenom “Bohemian Rhapsody.” For one, it shares the same director, Dexter Fletcher. It also centers upon a flashy British rock star, Elton John, who broke out in the ’70s and would become a gay icon. But what sets it apart from that paean to the magic of Queen front man Freddie Mercury is that the production isn’t burdened by many of the pitfalls that its predecessor had to overcome.

By most measures, “Bohemian Rhapsody,” a musical biopic about the life of Queen front man Freddie Mercury, was an astonishing success despite such drawbacks as having its original star Sacha Baron Cohen dropping out and scandal-enmeshed director Bryan Singer being replaced after taking long absences and clashing with the cast and crew.

Here’s Everything ‘Sonic the Hedgehog’ Is Being Compared to, From ‘Cat in the Hat’ to ‘Jumanji’
There’s a moment in the first trailer for “Sonic the Hedgehog” where the iconic, speedy blue hedgehog looks in terror as he first comes in contact with James Marsden. That look has been speeding around the internet to describe how people are reacting to the teaser that dropped on Tuesday.

The CGI character design for the live-action Sonic the Hedgehog has not been received warmly online. Sonic’s look has been compared to Mike Myers in the live-action “The Cat in the Hat,” to the Woody Woodpecker live-action movie made for a fraction of the budget, or to that kid who turns into a werewolf in Robin Williams’ “Jumanji.”

“After watching that ‘Sonic the Hedgehog’ trailer I would like to formally announce that I am no longer a furry,” comedian Daniel Howell said in a particularly brutal tweet.

A lot of comedy sequels fall short of their predecessors, but there are plenty that hold a candle to—or even improve upon—the first film. For the risks, just look at the Hangover 3. However, these movies went the other way and strengthened their franchises, by adding new wrinkles and characters, while placing fan favorite protagonists in new situations.

Thanks to big budgets and solid casts, here are ten underrated comedy sequels that will keep viewers laughing from start to finish.

Mike Myers is Set To Star in a New Comedy Series at Netflix

It’s seems like it’s been a long time since Mike Myers has starred in anything. He’s had bit parts in films here and there and even hosted The Gong Show, but it looks like he’s finally found a new project that is worth dedicating himself to.

Variety reports that Myers has jumped on board a new Netflix comedy series that he will star in and executive produce. The half-hour series has received a six-episode order, and it will feature Myers portraying multiple characters.

In a statement Myers said, “I love creating characters, and Netflix has given me a fantastic playground to play in.” I used to be a big fan of Meyers in the 90s during his SNL and Wayne’s World days. He’s kinda fallen off the radar over the years, but I would love to see him back in action and watch him do some great comedy again.
