Jemaine Clement Joins James Cameron’s ‘Avatar’ Sequels
Jemaine Clement, the star of “Flight of the Conchords” and the creator of “What We Do In the Shadows,” is the latest actor to join the cast of James Cameron’s four “Avatar” sequels, the film announced on its social media channels Wednesday.

Clement has been cast as marine biologist Dr. Ian Garvin in the films. He joins a cast that includes Kate Winslet, Oona Chaplin, Edie Falco, Michelle Yeoh, Giovanni Ribisi, David Thewlis, and Cliff Curtis among the newcomers joining Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Sigourney Weaver and Stephen Lang.

The “Avatar” sequels were recently pushed back by Disney, with the first of the four planned films will arrive on Dec. 17, 2021. It was previously scheduled to open in December 2020. The third film is delayed two years to December 2023 and the fourth bumped from December 2024 to December 2025. The fifth film is now expected to be released in December 2027.

Oscar-winner Marcia Gay Harden will travel to the past for her next TV role.

The actress will star in National Geographic Channel's scripted drama Barkskins, based on the Annie Proulx novel about a group of outcasts living in New France — the part of North America controlled by the French — in the 17th century.

Harden (Code Black, Pollock) will play Mathilde, an innkeeper who knows everyone's secrets and a burgeoning power player in the town as she learns how to use those secrets to her advantage.

Mackenzie Foy and Kate Winslet to star in ‘Black Beauty’ reboot

Mackenzie Foy and Kate Winslet have signed up to star in Ashley Avis’s reboot of the classic story of ‘Black Beauty’.

Foy will take the leading role as a 17-year-old girl whose bond with Black Beauty helps her overcome the death of her parents.

Winslet will have an easier job of it as she will provide the voice of the horse, Black Beauty.

Based on the best-selling children’s classic by Anna Sewell, Avis will direct the film from a script she has adapted herself. The film will be a fictional autobiography of the titular wild horse. In a significant change from Sewell’s book, in which Black Beauty is a carriage horse, in the new adaptation, she is a wild mustang captured on the Wyoming Plains.

Exclusive: Former The Art of More star Christian Cooke and James Bloor (Dunkirk) have been cast as co-leads opposite David Thewlis in Barkskins, National Geographic’s scripted drama series based on the 2016 bestselling novel of Pulitzer Prize-winning author Annie Proulx. The series hails from Elwood Reid, Fox 21 TV Studios and National Geographic.

Proulx’s Barkskins spans over 300 years. It chronicles the deforestation of the New World from the arrival of Europeans into the contemporary era of global warming through the stories of two immigrants to New France, René Sel (Cooke) and Charles Duquet (Bloor), who work as wood-cutters — barkskins — and of their descendants.

Cooke’s René Sel is a strong willed, morally sound indentured servant, signed to Monsieur Claude Trepagny (Thewlis), a wealthy landowner with grand visions for New France.

Bloor’s Duquet is a scrappy, industrious scoundrel, also signed to servitude under Trepagny.

The show centers on a young psychiatrist, Tom Hatfield (Guy Burnet), who is concerned about the effects of a technology called The Feed, an implant in the brains of millions of users that allows them to share thoughts, emotions and memories. From Fast & Furious to Blue & Curious, as Vin Diesel climbs aboard the Avatar franchise.

Remember when Vin Diesel was suddenly cast in James Gunn's Guardians Of The Galaxy and we were like "what!" and then it turned out his literal only job was to say "I am Groot" the entire time? It may well be time for a dizzying spell of déjà vu.

Diesel has announced this week via his own Instagram account that he is joining the Avatar sequels in a currently-undisclosed role. The Fast & Furious actor described feeling hashtag blessed and hashtag grateful to get a chance to take part in the upcoming Pandora franchise adventures, which are all being helmed by returning director James Cameron.

Netflix has announced that filming is now underway on I’m Thinking of Ending Things, writer-director Charlie Kaufman’s adaptation of Iain Reid’s bestselling novel of the same name.

The official synopsis for I’m Thinking of Ending Things reads:

On a road trip to meet his parents on their secluded farm, Jake’s girlfriend is thinking of ending things. When Jake makes an unexpected detour, leaving her stranded, a twisted mix of palpable tension, psychological frailty, and sheer terror ensues.
