A graduate of New York's Columbia School of Journalism, Irwin Allen was a magazine editor, the producer/director of a radio show and the owner of an advertising agency before entering film production in the 1950s. Unsold pilot: Pe produced pilot for a proposed sci-fi series for NBC to be called "City Beneath the Sea" which starred Glenn Corbett, Francine York and Lloyd Bochner. The series was rejected, but the concept was recast and became a TV movie in 1971 (_City Beneath the Sea (1971) (TV)_ (v)) with Stuart Whitman in the starring role. See more »
