Gregg Araki was born on December 17, 1959 in Los Angeles, California, USA. He is a writer and director, known for Mysterious Skin (2004), White Bird in a Blizzard (2014) and Kaboom (2010).

Worked as a music critic for L.A. Weekly.
Grew up in Santa Barbara before moving to Los Angeles to attend university.
Mother was a bookkeeper in an ophthalmologist's office.
Was member of the dramatic jury at the Sundance Film Festival in 1996.
Is a fan of Sheryl Lee's performance in Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me (1992), which he called "one of the greatest performances in the history of cinema". Lee later made an appearance in his film White Bird in a Blizzard (2014).
