Vanna White Makes ‘Wheel Of Fortune’ Hosting Debut With ‘Secret Santa’ Episodes Next Week
I’d like to solve the puzzle: “Vanna White Will Host Disney’s Secret Santa Holiday Giveaway On Wheel Of Fortune?” Right you are.

The career letter-turner makes her on-air hosting debut next week, stepping in for recuperating longtime frontman Pat Sajak. She will preside over the syndicated game show’s annual giveaway where viewers have the chance to win everything an in-studio contestant wins.

Last month Sajak had to cancel a Wheel taping to have ultimately successful emergency surgery to correct a blocked intestine. White, who has been the show’s letter-turner alongside Sajak since President Reagan’s first term, is filling in the blanks as host until he returns. It’s unknown when he will return.

As for the Wheel of Fortune holiday promotion, in episodes airing from December 9-20, every in-studio contestant will become a “Secret Santa” to an at-home viewer. If the viewer has a Wheel Watchers Club Spin ID number,

Wheel Of Fortune: 10 Behind-The-Scenes Facts

Wheel of Fortune is the longest-running game show in the U.S., having debuted in 1975 originally hosted by Chuck Woolery and Susan Stafford, until Pat Sajak took over in 1981 and has been host since, minus a two-year hiatus when he tried his hand at his own late-night talk show. He has been joined by Vanna White since 1982, who has been with the show since as well.

In the show, three contestants compete to spin a wheel, select letters, and try to solve a Hangman-like puzzle. They can go bankrupt and lose their money with a spin, try to solve the puzzle if they think they know what it is, and go on to win more cash, trips, and other prizes. The show has been immensely popular since it launched and remains as such. But there is a lot that goes on behind-the-scenes, or that has gone on,

Trebek read it aloud as “What is ‘we love you Alex.'” “That’s very kind of you, thank you,” Trebek replied with his voice cracking. The in-studio audience responded with “awwws” and laughs in support. Watch the touching moment above.

Trebek revealed in March that he had been diagnosed with Stage 4 pancreatic cancer, but vowed to battle the disease. The news of his diagnosis came just months after Trebek renewed his contract with Sony Pictures Television to stay on as host of “Jeopardy!” through 2022. After undergoing treatment, Trebek announced in May that he was in “near remission.”

‘Jeopardy!’ and ‘Wheel of Fortune’ Boss Honored With Walk of Fame Star Months Before Retirement

  • Variety
One day, a Midwestern kid set his sights on Hollywood and headed West. He gave himself six months to make it or return to Nebraska. The day before his self-imposed deadline, he landed a job writing for television.

It sounds too corny for an inspirational movie, yet this is Harry Friedman’s life.

Now, after decades of running “Jeopardy!” and “Wheel of Fortune,” Friedman is receiving a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Nov. 1, just months ahead of his planned May 2020 retirement. He’ll be 73, and although it’s been “a hell of a lot of fun,” it was time, he says, to step down from his executive producer role on the syndicated hits.

“When we went on the air in ’83, there were three networks, and that was it. No Fox, no streaming, no cell phones, no nothing,” says “Wheel of Fortune” host Pat Sajak. “It is as

‘Under the Silver Lake’ Is Turning Cinephiles Into Self-Styled Sleuths
Whether you’ve seen “Under the Silver Lake” or not, you might be asking yourself the same question Andrew Garfield spends most of the film pondering: What does it all mean? So are the members of a small-but-devoted subreddit, where tinfoil-hat-wearing sleuths have been theorizing about the many clues in David Robert Mitchell’s sun-baked neo-noir for months.

Sam’s search for meaning among minutiae isn’t exactly a fruitful one, with much of “Under the Silver Lake” unfolding in the same vein as “The Big Lebowski” and “Inherent Vice”: There are clues and intrigue, sure, but few of them lead to anything substantive.
