The Office: 10 Storylines That Hurt The Show (And 10 That Saved It)

Michael Scott once said, "You miss 100 % of the shots you don't take". Well, he's quoting hockey great Wayne Gretzky but still, he knows what he's talking about. Although, he also said, "I am Beyonce, always". Much like Michael and his quotes, The Office wasn't always a hit. A good TV show takes viewers on a wild ride.

It makes fans laugh, cry and jump up out of their seats. Conversely, a good TV show can disappoint and let fans down. In fact, long-running shows struggle with that all the time. For instance, The Office hit home runs with lots of its major plots. To be fair, it did drop the ball a few times. Some plots hurt the show while others saved it.

The Office aired from 2005 to 2013 for 9 seasons. At one time, it was one of the biggest shows in the world. Fans still talk about the love stories,

Willie O’Ree Documentary Checks The Remarkable Life Of NHL’s First Black Player

Willie O’Ree Documentary Checks The Remarkable Life Of NHL’s First Black Player
Exclusive: The success of recent documentaries about Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Fred Rogers proves that people are craving heroes right now. Enter Willie O’Ree, the NHL’s first black player, who was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame on Monday.

He is the subject of Willie, an upcoming feature-length docu whose executive producer Bryant McBride says is “10 percent about hockey and 90 percent about life.” Watch a teaser trailer above.

The man’s story is as improbable as it is impressive. O’Ree’s great-grandfather escaped slavery in 1778, and the family still has the original parchment document of his sale.

A native of Fredericton, New Brunswick, O’Ree shattered the NHL’s color barrier with the Boston Bruins in 1958, amid the birth of the Civil Rights movement and the struggle to end Jim Crow. Although he had to deal with racist taunts by fans and some opponents, he was welcomed by teammates and management.

Podtalk: Filmmaker Gabe Polsky is ‘In Search of Greatness’

Chicago – What is “greatness”? Is it an undefinable element in human beings that no one can explain, or can we get insight if we listen to those who have achieved it? Documentary filmmaker Gabe Polsky (“Red Army”) went on a journey to understand the concept in his new film, “In Search of Greatness.”

The focus is on athletes, in the sense of how one stands out from another, given the same parameters available to physically gifted people. Polsky explores the “it” factor, from pro hockey (Wayne Gretzky), pro football (Jerry Rice) and international soccer (Pelé). The filmmaker delves deeply, with commentary by social scientists and creativity experts. It turns out that the quality of greatness is part mystery, part happenstance and part being in the right place/time at any given moment, along with a unique passion for getting it done. This is a fascinating documentary, sprinkled with a bit of magic.

NHL 19 Review

For the last few years, developer EA Vancouver has been working toward creating the best hockey experience on the market. Each year, they’ve added new features and tweaked older, more established ones, and incrementally, the NHL franchise gotten better and better. For NHL 19, it all comes together to present one of the best hockey games ever, and while that’s an admittedly heady declaration, there’s still room for improvement.

As with most sports video games, there’s not much more you can do to represent that actual sport. EA Vancouver checked the boxes in recent years with their incredible stick control options and player-controlled dekes, and last year’s entry even gave the player more control on the ice, creating options for between-the-leg passes and multiple ways to shoot the puck, accentuating finesse as much as force.

NHL 19 adds EA’s Real Player Motion technology, which allows players
