The Dark Cinematic World of Clive Barker Films

When it comes to horror authors on film, people immediately think of Stephen King. The writing maestro has had almost all of his stories transposed to the big-screen, but he isn’t the only master of horror to see their work make the leap from book to film. My personal favourite is Clive Barker. Born in Liverpool, the author has a very different voice to that of King, his work is much more visceral and twisted. No topic is too taboo for him and several of his stories . It’s hard to find a Barker film with a certificate rating lower than eighteen, that’s how harrowing and blood-thirsty his tales can be. Barker’s work will take the centre stage in the last lecture in the Spring programme at the Miskatonic Institute of Horror Stories.

Named for the fictional university in H.P. Lovecraft’s literary mythos, the Miskatonic

Why The Original Iron Man Still Holds Up After More Than A Decade

Over the past decade, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has grown into the most successful movie franchise of all-time. There’s been almost two dozen films released under the Marvel Studios banner, all of which have succeeded with critics, fans and at the box office. It all began with Jon Favreau’s Iron Man though, which was released almost 11 years ago in 2008.

The film starred Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark, who blew the world away with his compelling performance. Now, it’s hard to even imagine any other actor filling these heavy iron boots. With Avengers: Endgame set to feature Downey Jr. portraying the beloved Marvel Comics character for the final time, it’s an opportune chance to look back at the first Iron Man film, which still manages to hold up to today’s standards.

Right off the bat, one of the biggest ways to exhibit the greatness of

Cliver Barker's Rawhead Rex May Get a Reboot

Cliver Barker's Rawhead Rex May Get a Reboot
As a horror fan you might imagine I do just as much reading as I do sitting back and watching flicks on my couch. Well, maybe not. But I promise I do! I especially dig a solid short story, and one of my favorites is Hellraiser and Candyman creator Clive Barker's monster-on-the-loose tale Rawhead Rex. The story was initially adapted for the big screen by director George Pavlou back in 1987, and from the sound of it, the underappreciated monster movie might be getting a reboot soon. The latest issue of The Dark Side Magazine features a lengthy interview with Pavlou who says this about his original flick.

"After 30 years and with the film finally out on Blu-ray and the fans so enthusiastic for it, well, it's just pleased me enormously. For years I've been watching this horrible degraded, nasty 4K format version on YouTube and it was just depressing

Sam Rockwell Was "Obsessed" With Playing George W. Bush in Vice

Sam Rockwell Was
It sounds like Sam Rockwell went a little overboard preparing for his role in Vice.  When he hit the 2019 Oscars red carpet with partner Leslie Bibb, E!'s Ryan Seacrest asked what he used to get ready to play George W. Bush, and it was Bibb who stepped in.  "Ev-ery-thing," she said. "We live in New York and we live in a loft so there's no walls, so it was like, morning, noon, and night."  "I did everything you can think of, man," Rockwell explained. "I was like obsessed with being George Bush."  He watched the Josh Brolin movie W, he watched Will Ferrell's SNL impression, and of course he practiced in front of the mirror. Just...
