NBC Fall 2019-20 Schedule: Not A Lot Of Change For Top-Rated Network, ‘Will & Grace’ & ‘Manifest’ Held For Midseason

  • Deadline
NBC is not into change very much this upcoming season, to put it conservatively.

Sure, the network has Melissa McCarthy taking over hosting duties from Steve Harvey for the fourth season of Little Big Shots in the upcoming season, and Will & Grace and last year’s breakout Manifest are both pushed back to midseason. And, yes, there’s now a Mike Schur hour on Thursdays with more of the producer’s The Good Place and his new comedy Sunnyside.

Otherwise, with a scattering of newbies aside, most of the Comcast-owned net’s schedule for the 2019-20 season looks a lot like the season that is just about to end, a lot.

Or as NBC Entertainment co-chairs George Cheeks and Paul Telegdy said earlier today: “we came into this season from the vantage point of extreme stability, but without any complacency.”

With that noted, here is NBC’s fall 2019-20 schedule,

Emmy Predictions 2019: Best Actor in a Comedy Series

Emmy Predictions 2019: Best Actor in a Comedy Series
Last Year’s Winner: Bill Hader, “Barry”

Still Eligible: Yes.

Hot Streak: Showtime has the longest nominations streak of any network in this category, with eight years in a row earning at least one slot. Spread across three actors, 13 nominations, and dating back through 2011, William H. Macy (“Shameless”), Don Cheadle (“House of Lies”), and Matt LeBlanc (“Episodes”) have all helped keep the premium cable network in the race, year after year. However, a Showtime actor has never won the Emmy for Best Actor in a Comedy Series.

Fun Fact: John Goodman (“Roseanne”), Matt LeBlanc (“Friends” and “Episodes”), and Hal Linden (“Barney Miller”) have the most nominations without ever winning an Emmy in the category. LeBlanc and Linden have never won an Emmy period, but Goodman took home the 2007 trophy for Best Guest Actor in a Drama Series for — you guessed it — Aaron Sorkin’s short-lived NBC series “Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip
