Review: Judy Greer’s Directorial Debut ‘A Happening of Monumental Proportions’ Could Use a Satiric Touch

Men have it tough, don’t they? I mean they have to worry about married women they’ve engaged in inner-office affairs with ratting them out to the new boss. Some are forced to face the crushing existential crisis that comes with their failed pipe dreams of rock stardom revealing how they’re nothing but lowly private school music teachers who’ve accomplished nothing in their lives — including, apparently, educating the children in their class. And don’t get me started on the ones who must endure the untimely death of their wives and the inconvenience of then having to juggle alpha male status at work with fatherhood. Blech. Why can’t the world just let us be pricks spouting homophobic rhetoric to compensate for penis size like we were born to do?

Screenwriter Gary Lundy asks this question with the final, surprising cameo-led scene of A Happening of Monumental Proportions.

First Trailer for Judy Greer's 'A Happening of Monumental Proportions'

"Look - it's not important which direction you go, what's important is that you commit." Great Point Media has released an official trailer for an indie ensemble comedy titled A Happening of Monumental Proportions, the feature directorial debut of beloved actress Judy Greer. The film is set over the course of one wild, wacky day, about a group of students (and their parents) at a school in Los Angeles who find themselves caught up in a plot of sex, lies and dead bodies. Sounds fun, right? The impressive ensemble cast includes Allison Janney, Common, Jennifer Garner, Bradley Whitford, Katie Holmes, Kumail Nanjiani, Storm Reid, Anders Holm, Rob Riggle, John Cho, Nat Faxon, Marla Sokoloff, Mary Birdsong, and yes, even Keanu Reeves. I just want to see this to see all these people together in one film. I haven't heard anything good or bad about this yet, but it looks weirdly amusing for sure.

If you long for the days of romantic comedies, there is no better place to find them than on Hallmark Channel and Hallmark Movies and Mysteries. There's a great one airing tonight on Hallmark Channel titled "Summer in the City."

'90s Girl Crushes You Totally Forgot About

'90s Girl Crushes You Totally Forgot About
While everyone was talking about DJ, Stephanie, and Michelle (and even Kimmy) on Full House, we were all missing out on something super-important. Stephanie's Bff Gia, played by Marla Sokoloff, had kind of a bad/cool girl thing going on that had us majorly crushing on her back in the '90s. Gia was a girl who hosted make-out parties when her mom wasn't home. Seriously. That's amazing. The '90s were filled with female flames we either wanted to be or be with. The Kelly Kapowskis and Buffy Summers of the world got their due. What about all those forgotten, underrated girl crushes from the 1990's? People remember following Jessica Biel on 7th Heaven, but...
