Bob Greenblatt Pays Tribute to Eunetta Boone: ‘Love Just Radiated From Her’

  • Variety
Eunetta T. Boone was funny, sharp and extremely warm-hearted. That’s how WarnerMedia Entertainment chairman Bob Greenblatt remembered Boone as he paid tribute to the showrunner who died Wednesday at the age of 63.

Greenblatt worked with Boone in the early 2000s when he was partnered with David Janollari in the Greenblatt-Janollari Studio production venture. Greenblatt-Janollari was the banner behind Boone’s Upn comedy “One on One,” starring Kyla Pratt and Flex Alexander, and the spinoff “Cuts.”

One on One” ran for five seasons, from 2001 to 2006, making it one of the longest-lived series that Greenblatt-Janollari Studio produced during the banner’s 1997-2003 run.

“I’m so saddened at Eunetta’s passing,” Greenblatt told Variety. “She did three shows with me and David Janollari and she was one of the smartest and funniest writer/producers we ever worked with. But what really set her apart was her huge heart. She cared about

X-23 Script In The Works

After a stunning performance in this year’s Logan, James Mangold has revealed that the success of Wonder Woman may have opened the doors for an X-23 movie starring Dafne Keen. “Patty [Jenkins]’s success with that film only solidifies more for studios that there’s less to fear with a female protagonist,” said Mangold in an interview with THR. “The more that keeps getting hit home, that ends up giving me more space turning around and going, ‘Well, here we are with a female protagonist. ‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them’: A VFX Creature Guide

‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them’: A VFX Creature Guide
The real stars of J.K. Rowling’s “Fantastic Beasts,” of course, are the creatures themselves.

They’re animated by a gaggle of VFX all-stars: Framestore, Double Negative, Mpc, Image Engine, among others, overseen by production VFX supervisors Christian Manz and Tim Burke.

The mandate from “Harry Potter” veteran director David Yates was not too make the creatures overly fantastical and thereby unrelatable, which is why there are so many distinct animal influences. And originally the VFX supervisors envisioned individual environments for each beast inside the suitcase, but Rowlings suggested that wizard Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) would have to be as powerful as Valdemort to pull that off, so they scaled it way back. Here are a few of the highlights:

The Niffler

This badger-like creature has a penchant for stealing treasure. “He was always going to be a cheeky character that’s always trying to get out to steal stuff and embarrass Newt,

Snakes on a Plane Becomes a Reality for Terrified Airline Passengers

Snakes on a Plane Becomes a Reality for Terrified Airline Passengers
Earlier this summer, the cult hit Snakes on a Plane celebrated its 10th Anniversary, and as implausible as that movie was, it just became a reality for a group of Mexican airline passengers. During an AeroMexico flight from Torreon to Mexico City yesterday, passenger Indalecio Medina posted a video to social media, which shows a massive snake, believed to be a venomous green viper, falling from an overhead compartment to the main cabin. The plane was given priority clearance to land in Mexico City so that animal control could properly remove the snake.

While it still isn't known how the snake even got on the plane, Upi reports that Indalecio Medina captured the snake in a blanket and gave it some "magazines to read." He also posted another brief video on Twitter that shows animal control workers removing the snake. Here's what a representative for AeroMexico airlines had to say in a statement.

Best Bond lines from the Roger Moore era

Dialogue can make or break a film. However beautifully photographed the picture might be, however stimulating, thought-provoking or thrilling the story is, however captivating the score, if what the characters say is poorly conceived, that movie is operating on a significant handicap. The Roger Moore tenure in the 007 film franchise is indeed often criticized for be being the weakest of all the actors who played the part, but more for its frequent silliness…and the fact that Moore was 57 years old by the time his last outing, A View to a Kill, was made. Say what one will about Moore’s versatility as an actor (although doubters should either re-watch For Your Eyes Only or arguably his best non-Bond film, The Man Who Haunted Himself), the man was among the best in delivering witty, comical lines, often peppered with some sort of sexual innuendo. That alone should qualify for something,

My notes this week read like one long anguished cry: oh Margaret, oh Barton, oh Dale, oh Virginia, oh Dr DePaul. 10 Music Film Biopics Not Yet Made

In the wake of the shocking but not too surprising death of the ‘King of Pop’ Michael Jackson there will undoubtedly be a biopic(s) of the troubled star’s life hot-shotted into production soon.

(There has already been one rather creepy biopic on Mj made starring Flex Alex-f***-ander – yes, the guy from Snakes on a Plane)

In light of this inevitable movie, here at What Culture we decided to compile a list of the Top 10 music biopics we’re actually looking forward to seeing. Some of these artists have been the subject of long-rumoured projects that have not yet escaped development hell, while some of the others are just artists whose stories I think would make a pretty fucking awesome biopic.

Music divides opinion even more than cinema does so no doubt there will be many contentious points on my list, regardless, click to “read more” because after

Jennifer Hudson Family Murder Trial Starts Monday

Jennifer Hudson Family Murder Trial Starts Monday
Chicago -- A gift of balloons. That, prosecutors contend, is what sent singer Jennifer Hudson's then brother-in-law into such a jealous rage that he shot dead her mother, brother and 7-year-old nephew in a horrific act of vindictiveness in the home where the Hollywood star grew up.

A prosecutor is expected to tell jurors that Monday during opening statements at the trial of William Balfour. He is charged with three counts of first-degree murder in the Oct. 24, 2008, slayings that generated nationwide headlines because of Hudson's fame.

The estranged husband of Hudson's sister, Balfour believed the balloons he saw at the Hudson home came from Julia Hudson's new boyfriend; driving away for her job as a school bus driver, she glimpsed Balfour in her mirror still lingering outside, prosecutors have said.

They say Balfour went back inside the three-story house around 9 a.m. and used a .45-caliber handgun to kill Hudson's mother,

Jennifer Hudson Star Power To Complicate Family's Murder Trial

Jennifer Hudson Star Power To Complicate Family's Murder Trial
Chicago — Accustomed to wearing Vera Wang gowns on red carpets, singing at the Grammys or autographing her weight-loss memoir, Oscar winner Jennifer Hudson will take on a new role under a very different spotlight – in Chicago's drab criminal courts building at the trial of the man charged with murdering her mother, brother and 7-year-old nephew.

The Hollywood star's presence, and the accompanying media hubbub, is bound to affect the proceedings, which begin Monday. That's when presiding Judge Charles Burns plans to start questioning would-be jurors one by one, trying to weed out anyone who could be swayed by Hudson's celebrity status.

Hudson is expected to be at the trial every day once testimony begins, court officials say, and she's on the 300-name list of witnesses who could testify. While the judge will warn prospective jurors to avoid watching TV coverage of the trial, they may see Hudson on "American Idol" on Thursday.
