Alec Bojalad May 10, 2019

How to Get Away with Murder Season 6 is in the works at ABC, along with its Shondaland partner, Grey's Anatomy.

At this point, it's probably safe to say they've gotten away with the murder.

ABC has ordered How to Get Away with Murder Season 6, according to a Deadline report. Notably, How to Get Away with Murder is being renewed alongside its two Shondaland "Tgit" partners, Grey's Anatomy and Station 19. Grey's Anatomy actually got a two-season pickup for an unprecedented Seasons 16 and 17 and Station 19 will be getting its third season.

“Everyone at Shondaland is thrilled that our fans’ commitment to Tgit continues,” Shonda Rhimes and producing partner Betsy Beers said in a joint statement. “We are so proud of Krista and Pete and the work they do. Making the choice to have Krista oversee Station 19 was easy — the creativity she brings to the Grey’s

How to Get Away with Murder: Renewed for Season 6!

How to Get Away with Murder is coming back for another season!

ABC has confirmed the twisty drama series will be back for a sixth season.

The writing has been on the wall for the Viola Davis-fronted series for a while now.

How to Get Away with Murder Season 5 continued to dip in the ratings, with live + same day ratings of 2.8 million total viewers and a 0.7 rating in the demo.

Out of ABC's 21 scripted series, How to Get Away with Murder ranks as the network's 15th highest-rated series.

The show does add on a decent chunk of viewers in delayed viewing, but with the continued erosion, it makes sense that ABC would end it.

The good news is that fans will be getting resolution to that big cliffhanger. Investing many years in a TV show for it to be canceled is not the best.

Glynn Turman (‘How to Get Away with Murder’) on ‘paying homage to my father’ through Nate Sr. [Exclusive Video Interview]

Glynn Turman (‘How to Get Away with Murder’) on ‘paying homage to my father’ through Nate Sr. [Exclusive Video Interview]
How to Get Away with Murder” gave Emmy winner Glynn Turman a way of honoring his father. Turman had a recurring role as the imprisoned Nate Lahey Sr. in the ABC drama’s past two seasons, a role that allowed him to pay tribute to his family’s experiences. Nate Sr. dealt with an unfair justice system that put him at a disadvantage, and as Turman notes of his own life, his father “was all too familiar with this system and we as a family are all too familiar with the system as a result of his experience.” Watch our exclusive video interview above.

Turman first joined “How to Get Away with Murder” in Season 4, with Nate Sr. introduced as part of Annalise Keating’s class action lawsuit against the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania for not adequately funding public defenders. Nate Sr.’s drug case was improperly handled, resulting in an unfair sentence.

Emmy spotlight: Liza Weil is long overdue for inaugural bid for ‘How to Get Away with Murder’

Through four seasons, ABC’s “How to Get Away With Murder” has produced six Emmy nominations — all for acting, for Viola Davis and Cicely Tyson. But it’s high time for another “Murder” vet, Liza Weil, to break through at the Emmys, after giving yet another powerful performance this season. Can Weil finally get away with a bid, just like her character has, well, gotten away with murder?

Spoiler alert for Season 5!

Since the show’s inception, we’ve witnessed Bonnie (Weil) go through tough times, and this season unsurprisingly put her through the wringer yet again. The season starts out well for her: back-and-forth text messages with her boyfriend Ronald Miller (John Hensley), dinner with Annalise (Davis), and yes, even a beaming smile on her face. That quickly changes when she is, once again, forced to face her traumatic past and comes face to face with her long-estranged sister.

‘How To Get Away With Murder’ Team Talks Season 5’s New ‘Mystery’ Character
In its fifth season, “How To Get Away With Murder” is “going back to basics with Annalise in the classroom” — but showrunner Pete Nowalk promises plenty of new mysteries, including another death and the arrival of a new law student, Gabriel Maddox (Rome Flynn).

“Annalise started as a lawyer who wanted splashy cases and attention and to win the game, and I think she’s been through so much s— she needs to, in her heart, feel like a redeemable person so she’s trying to give back [now],” says Nowalk.
