Daniel Auteuil, Guillaume Canet, Doria Tillier and Fanny Ardant fill out the main cast. The film will release on Nov 6 in France and Switzerland.
The feature has already sold to Germany (Constantin), Italy (IWonder Pictures), Latam/Spain, Japan (Kinoshita), Cis + Baltics (Volga), Portugal (Cinemundo), Romania (Independenta), Ex Yougoslavia (McF), Hungary (Cirko), Greece (Rosebud 21) and Belgium (Alternative), and Pathé says that negotiations are ongoing with several other territories.

She will play Adrienne Bourgès, a mysterious woman from Gustave Eiffel’s past who inspired the celebrated engineer’s creation of the Eiffel Tower.

The 2nd Canneseries had no competition title with the profile of “Killing Eve,” its standout last year. A world premiere screened out of competition as the last series in the whole festival, where it met with some thunderous applause, “Years & Years,” a BBC-Canal Plus-HBO production showrun by U.K. industry heavyweight Russell T. Davies, does have that stature, and the potential to be one of the major drama series of 2019.
The Canneseries Competition ran a wide gamut – from genre (“Outbreak”) to drama (“Bauhaus”), drama-thrillers (“The Twelve”), near future low-fi (“The Feed”), dramedies and comedies, Canneseries artistic director Albin Levi pointed out.

Canneseries, the annual TV festival running alongside the Miptv content market in Cannes, has unveiled the competition line-up for its second edition (April 5-10).
The first two epsidoes from 10 new international series will screen in the main competition.
Titles include Channing Powell’s London-set psychological thriller The Feed for Amazon and Liberty Global. David Thewlis stars in the dystopian tale as the inventor of a brain implant that allows people to share thoughts and emotions alongside Guy Burnet, Michelle Fairley and Nina Toussaint-White as his family members.
Netflix’s competition entry is the German series “How to Sell Drugs Online Fast,” from writers Philipp Käßbohrer and Matthias Murmann. Amazon is heading to Cannes Series with “The Feed,” a London-set drama created by Channing Powell and based on the novel Nick Clark Windo. “The Feed” stars “Game of Thrones” favorite Michelle Fairley opposite David Thewlis in a story about a piece of technology that allows people to instantly share thoughts and emotions. The tech falls into the wrong hands and becomes a murderous weapon.

France’s Canal Plus Group has announced details of its new streaming service dedicated to high-end TV drama series, which is due to launch via any of its subscriptions packages via on March 12.
Canal+ Séries will offer a combination of Canal Plus’s highly-regarded Créations Originales shows as well as acquisitions of high-end international series. The move is the latest attempt by the pay-tv giant to re-position itself in France’s premium content market, which has been heavily disrupted by the arrival of Netflix and other global digital players.

Xavier Legrand’s domestic violence drama Custody (Jusqu’à La Garde) was named best film at the 44th Cesar Awards in Paris on Friday (23).
Legrand’s feature directorial debut and Venice 2017 Silver Lion winner began the night on a field-leading 10 nominations alongside Gilles Lellouche’s comedy Sink Or Swim (Le Grand Bain), and also won awards for Legrand’s original screenplay, best actress Lea Drucker, and editor Yorgos Lamprinos.
Jacques Audiard was named best director for The Sisters Brothers at the ceremony in the Salle Pleyel, presided over by Kristin Scott Thomas.
“Custody,” which marks Legrand’s follow up to his Oscar-nominated short, tells the story of a boy named Julien (Thomas Gioria), who is forced by a court ruling to split his time between his mother (Drucker) and estranged father (Denis Ménochet), whom he regards as a violent monster, amid his parents’ bitter divorce. “Custody” world-premiered in competition at the Venice Film Festival, where it won two awards, and went on to play at Toronto in the competitive Platform section.

Under the pact, the three companies will develop, produce and distribute a collection of genre films with the goal of delivering two to three projects per year. Two projects, an exorcism film and a medieval survival movie, are in pre-production.
Charlotte Boucon, head of international sales at Snd, said the idea was to explore many different kinds of high-concept genre films, not just horror movies, but thrillers, science fiction and action movies as well, and work with well-known directors.
“Genre has always been part of our editorial line; and today the perspective of creating a real collection is an exciting challenge,” said Boucon, who cited “What Happened to Monday,” “Source Code” and “Looper” as successful genre movies that were sold by Snd and traveled well.
Directed by Cathy Verney and starring Romain Duris (“The Beat That My Heart Skipped”) and Céline Sallette (“House of Tolerance”), the Canal Plus Création Originale will premiere three episodes, out of competition, at the Palais des Festivals in Cannes on April 5. International sales are handled by Studiocanal.
The premier and opening night slot will give a high-profile at this year’s event to Canal Plus, a partner of Canneseries, as the French pay TV giant attempts to mark itself apart in France as a quality but still edgy and Ya-appealing original series producer.
The series is inspired by a popular pair of novels from author Virginie Despentes, a bestseller in France which was crying out for a small screen adaptation.
