‘The Beach Bum’ Review

Stars: Matthew McConaughey, Snoop Dogg, Isla Fisher, Stefania Lavie Owen, Martin Lawrence, Zac Efron, Jonah Hill, Donovan St V. Williams, Clinton Archambault, Jerry Ascione, Ricardo Matallana, Joshua Ritter | Written and Directed by Harmony Korine

The Beach Bum is directed by independent auteur filmmaker Harmony Korine and his first feature film in a seven-year interval after his critically abolished but cult classic feature Spring Breakers, that gave the filmmaker a second wind of sorts after a decade of influence in the 90s with Kids, Gummo and Julien Donkey-Boy. His latest – structurally speaking – is a complete disaster but this a Harmony Korine film and the truly outlandish provocative nature is superbly chaotic and downright outrageously infectious. A terrific hangout film with one very unique superb leading character of Moondog, expertly performed by Matthew McConaughey.

As stated above, the structure utilised by Korine and editor Douglas Crise is virtually non-existent. Forget about act

Movie Review – The Beach Bum (2019)

The Beach Bum, 2019.

Directed by Harmony Korine.

Starring Matthew McConaughey, Snoop Dogg, Isla Fisher, Zac Efron, Jimmy Buffett, Martin Lawrence, and Jonah Hill.

Synopsis:

Moondog (Matthew McConaughey) is a fun-loving, pot-smoking writer living in Florida. When he isn’t partying too hard, he’s trying to finish the next great American novel.

Writer and director of The Beach Bum, Harmony Korine, seems to understand Florida all too well. Between this film and his 2012 cult classic Spring Breakers, Korine perfectly captures the beauty and madness of this place. While it never comes close to his wild look at smalltown living in Gummo, The Beach Bum does a great job of comedically showcasing one of the strangest places in the world.

The southern beach-filled state in the Us is pretty notorious for news articles online about the “Florida Man,” and it feels like this film is ripped straight from one of those headlines.

The latest beloved animated film turned live-action spectacle, Dumbo, debuted at the of the box-office weekend countdown with an impressive $46 million opening. Despite the solid opening, the film still came up short of many industry expectations. The horror film Us added $33.2 million to its coffers over the weekend to give Jordan Peele’s film an eye-popping two-week total of $127.8 million. The Beach Bum Bombs, Giving McConaughey His Worst Box Office Debut Ever

The Beach Bum Bombs, Giving McConaughey His Worst Box Office Debut Ever
Things are anything but alright, alright, alright for Matthew McConaughey right now. His latest movie, The Beach Bum, opened this weekend, but nobody would blame you if you had no idea that was the case. Despite having an absolutely stacked cast and a director who's next movie people had been waiting for, this stoner comedy arrived with a massive, ugly thud and wound up giving McConaughey the worst opening of his long, storied career at the box office.

The Beach Bum was given a wide release by Neon this past weekend following its debut at SXSW last month. Originally, the plan was to do some sort of platform release, which would have allowed for a slower rollout and could have allowed the movie to gain some traction via word of mouth. Instead, the studio opted to drop it on more than 1,000 screens all at once with very little marketing ahead

Dumbo Flies Low with Disappointing $45M Box Office Win

Disney's live-action Dumbo flew into the box office with a disappointing $45 million domestic debut. Initial estimates had the remake soaring to over $50 million, but that was definitely not the case for the studio's latest live-action remake and could spell disaster for the next two live-action projects that are on the way. Both Aladdin and The Lion King will hit theaters in just a few months from now. Overseas, Dumbo opened with $71 million, for a global debut of $116 million.

While the weekend debut of Dumbo is disappointing, it was enough to easily earn the number one spot. Us took the second position after taking in $33.6 million. Globally, Jordan Peele's follow up to Get Out has made $174.5 million in its first two weeks in theaters. The horror movie has received some mixed reviews, but fans, for the most part, are enjoying the follow up with many going to see it

Review: The Beach Bum

by Murtada Elfadl

If your favorite Matthew Mcconaughey mood is of the naked bongo drumming variety, then Harmony Korine has made just the movie for you. In The Beach Bum Mcconaughey is Moondog, a rebellious rogue living outside society in Florida doing exactly what he wants, whenever he wants it, and all the while high as a kite. He’s nice, benevolent, kind, mostly peaceful, accepting of all and of their foibles. He believes in true love and practices it (straight of course but not adverse to a bit of cross dressing). Even when he finds out his wife (Isla Fisher) is also sleeping with other people, it takes him literally only a minute to go from surprise to complete acceptance.

The plot -if we can call it that - is to follow Moondog along his travels in Key West and Miami...

Zac Efron Looking All Sorts of Sexy at His Movie Premiere Will Make You Weak in the Knees
Zac Efron looked all sorts of sexy when he attended the La premiere of The Beach Bum on Thursday night. The 31-year-old actor sported his now-signature platinum-blond hair and cut a suave figure in a blue suit. Ok, Zac, we see you! He was joined by the rest of the film's cast including Matthew McConaughey, Snoop Dogg, and Isla Fisher.

The comedy - which is out in theaters now - revolves around Matthew's character, Moondog, who is a poet simply trying to "uncover his connection with the world" through some very unusual means. Earlier this week, we got a glimpse of what we can expect when Snoop and Matthew dropped by Jimmy Kimmel Live!, and let's just say, your stomach will hurt from all the laughing you'll be doing.
