Rémy Girard was born on August 10, 1950 in Jonquière, Quebec, Canada. He is an actor, known for The Barbarian Invasions (2003), Incendies (2010) and Jesus of Montreal (1989).

His son has cerebral palsy.
He met Steven Spielberg for a role in Munich (2005), but because it was a French character, a real Frenchman got the part.
He holds the record of four Genie awards: Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role for Les portes tourmantes (1988), Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role for Jésus de Montréal (1989), Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role for Amoureux fou (1991) and Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role for Les Invasions barbares (2003). He has received nine nominations.
While studying law, he joined the legendary Troupe des Treize at the Université Laval (1969).
