Stars To Take Part In 18th Annual Comedy For a Cure

On Sunday, April 7, 2019, the Tuberous Sclerosis Alliance (Ts Alliance) will present its 18th Annual Comedy for a Cure, which raises funds to support research into a rare disease called tuberous sclerosis complex (Tsc).

Comedy for a Cure will be held at Academy La starting at 5 pm with a 1.5 hour reception and silent auction, followed by a short program, live auction and comedy show. The event will also celebrate the Ts Alliance’s 45th Anniversary.

This year’s comedian lineup features headliner John Henson with additional performances by Kate Flannery, Orny Adams and Karen Rontowski. The event’s hosts include long-time Ts Alliance supporters Jim O’Heir and Alex Skuby.

In addition, the Szilagyi Family of Southern California will be presented with the “Courage in Leadership Award” for their tenacity and inspiration to everyone living with Tsc. Dr. Joyce Wu, Founder and Director of the UCLA Tsc Clinic, will also be

‘This Is Us’: Phylicia Rashad To Play Beth’s Mother In Upcoming Episode
The Cosby Show alum Phylicia Rashad will guest star in an upcoming episode of NBC’s This is Us — and it fits her perfectly.

Rashad, who played loving mother and attorney Claire Huxtable on The Cosby Show, will play Carol, mother of Beth (Susan Kelechi Watson) in episode No. 13, which focuses on Beth’s backstory, Deadline has confirmed.

Rashad joins a roster of previous guest stars on This is Us, including Katey Sagal, Sylvester Stallone, Jane Kaczmarek, Denis O’Hare, Sam Trammell, Seth Meyers, and Katie Couric.

Series creator Dan Fogelman executive produces along with, Isaac Aptaker, Elizabeth Berger, John Requa, Glenn Ficarra, Ken Olin, Charlie Gogolak and Jess Rosenthal. This Is Us is produced by 20th Century Fox Television.

Two-time Emmy winner Rashad currently recurs as Diana Dubois on Fox’s Empire. She’ll also be seen in a starring role in Own’s upcoming coming-of-age drama David Makes Man.

Thomas Sadoski, Camryn Manheim, Sharon Lawrence & More Join ‘Killing Eleanor’ Indie
Exclusive: Thomas Sadoski (The Newsroom), Camryn Manheim (The Practice), and Sharon Lawrence (NYPD Blue) have come aboard the dark indie comedy Killing Eleanor, along with Chris Mulkey (Whiplash), Rusty Schwimmer (The Perfect Storm), Cerina Vincent (Stuck in the Middle) and David Eigenberg (Chicago Fire).

Rich Newey is directing the film, which is currently shooting in Illinois. Annika Marks wrote the screenplay and will also star in the film. Other previously announced cast members include Betsy Brandt, Jane Kaczmarek, and Jenny O’Hara.

The pic follows Eleanor (O’Hara), a terminally ill old lady who wants to die on her own terms and Natalie (Marks), the self-destructive addict who agrees to help kill her, in exchange for clean urine.

Exclusive: Breaking Bad‘s Betsy Brandt, Malcolm in the Middle alum Jane Kaczmarek, Annika Marks (The Affair) and Jenny O’Hara will star in Killing Eleanor, a dark indie comedy penned by Marks. Rich Newey is directing the pic, which will go into production next month in Illinois.

Marks, whose acting credits include The Affair, Amazon’s Goliath series, and Waco, is also producing the pic with Angie Gaffney, Richard Kahan, and Newey.

The plot follows Natalie (Marks), fresh out of rehab for her ever-persistent painkiller addiction, and the terminally ill Eleanor (O’Hara), who is determined to take control of the end of her life, with Natalie’s assistance. When Natalie’s confrontation-averse, enabling mother Martina (Kaczmarek) and type-a older sister Anya (Brandt) demand weekly drug tests, she reluctantly agrees to help Eleanor — in exchange for clean urine.

On Sunday, April 8, 2018, the Tuberous Sclerosis Alliance (Ts Alliance) will present its 17th Annual Comedy for a Cure, which raises funds to support research into a rare disease called tuberous sclerosis complex (Tsc).

Comedy for a Cure will be held at The Globe Theatre at Universal Studios Hollywood starting with a 1.5 hour reception and silent auction at 5 pm, followed by magic, music and hilarious comedy, interspersed with a short program and live auction.

This year’s event features emcee Melissa Peterman, with performances by Renee Albert and Dana Snyder, magician Shane Brady, Kate Flannery (The Office) and the Tony Guerrero Jazz Band, magician Mark Furey and headlining comic Jimmy Shubert (King of Queens and Last Comic Standing).

Netflix have released a claustrophobic trailer for its addiction drama, 6 Balloons starring Dave Franco and Abbi Jacobson.

Up and coming filmmaker Marja-Lewis Ryan, Wrote and directed the film which has Channing Tatum and his producing partner Reid Carolin as producers. Ryan is also set to work alongside Tatum again as the scribe for the Splash reboot.
