John Wick VFX Artist Reveals How They Plot Out Its Bloody Violence

John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum is practically a ballet of carefully choreographed violence, just as beautiful to watch as it is brutal. But those who pay attention to the detail may have realized that the latest installment of the Keanu Reeves-led franchise is virtually torture porn when compared to the first film, joyfully lingering on shots of punctured eyeballs and shattered toenails to the wake of Wick’s destruction.

Those behind the John Wick series have prided themselves on its perfect mix of ruthlessness and realism, especially directors David Leitch and Chad Stahelski. Former stunt performers themselves, the duo knew exactly how they wanted the violence portrayed on screen, and instructed their visual effects team to take a more reserved approach to the carnage.

Kirk Brillon, the VFX supervisor from John Wick: Chapter 2, recently revealed to Variety that Stahelski even had specific intentions for the amount blood seen throughout

John Wick’s Already Killed More People Than Jason And Michael Myers Combined

Who would’ve thought that after just three movies, John Wick would be the most lethal killer in the business? Better yet, who would’ve thought Chad Stahelski and David Leitch’s 2014 revenge thriller would spawn an entire franchise? And yet, here we are, celebrating the arrival of Chapter 3 – Parabellum and all of its kick-ass action scenes.

Because make no mistake, the third (and definitely not final) chapter in Wick’s cinematic saga is a slick, expertly crafted action movie. It’s earned rare reviews ever since it blasted its way into theaters, and now that the Internet is fawning over Keanu Reeves and his on-screen hitman, the good folks at Bloody Disgusting and Rotten Tomatoes have crunched the numbers to reveal that John Wick has already killed more people than Michael Myers (140) and Jason Voorhees (157) combined. And he did so in just three movies.

Between them, Myers and Voorhees have amassed 297 kills across 20 films,

John Wick 4 Is Coming in Summer 2021

John Wick 4 Is Coming in Summer 2021
Keanu Reeves will be back as the legendary assassin John Wick for at least one more round of ultra-violent, pulse-pounding action. Lionsgate and Summit Entertainment have confirmed that John Wick 4 is indeed in the works. What's more, they've already locked down a release date for the sequel, and it's coming a little bit sooner than some may think, as the studio has planted a flag for May 2021.

The news was confirmed by the studio via a text message that was sent to those who had signed up for updates regarding John Wick 3: Parabellum. The text message not only confirmed that a fourth installment is happening, but revealed a May 21, 2021 release date. That means Lionsgate is sticking to their strategy of treating this as more of a summer blockbuster action franchise. The previous two installments were released in October 2014 and February 2017, respectively. At the present time, no further details have been revealed,

Review: 'John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum' is a High-Octane Blast to the Cerebellum

With the original John Wick, screenwriter Derek Kolstad and co-directors Chad Stahelski and David Leitch created an atmospheric neo-noir thriller with exhilarating action sequences, an iconic action hero in John Wick, and an equally iconic lead performance by Keanu Reeves. The film, about an ex-assassin (Reeves) who comes out of retirement to track down the gangsters that killed his dog, earned $88 million worldwide, and thus began the John Wick Cinematic Universe™. Stahelski and Kolstad doubled-down on the non-stop, exquisitely choreographed bloodshed in the sequel John Wick: Chapter 2 while exploring the mythological, hyper-real criminal underworld John Wick inhabits. Now, with John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum, Stahelski and Kolstad walk a tightrope between world-building and trigger-pulling to deliver a propulsive action flick with some of the most impressive stunts and set pieces in American action cinema. The action picks up directly after Chapter 2 ends, as Wick finds himself declared "excommunicado" from the

Take a Fast and Furious Ride With These Hobbs and Shaw Behind-the-Scenes Pictures

Production for Hobbs and Shaw has officially wrapped, so you know what that means - only three more months until the Fast & Furious spinoff hits theaters! The David Leitch-directed film stars Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham as Luke Hobbs and Deckard Shaw, respectively, and features a handful of new faces including Idris Elba, Vanessa Kirby, Eiza González, and Johnson's cousin, former WWE superstar Roman Reigns (née Leati Joseph "Joe" Anoaʻi). Johnson, Statham, and Elba have all shared behind-the-scenes looks of what we can expect from the film on Instagram, and thankfully, it looks nothing like Tokyo Drift. Phew! Johnson has also assured us that the "audience is gonna have an absolute blast this Summer." Hobbs and Shaw is set to hit theaters on Aug. 2, 2019.

Michelle Rodriguez Joins ‘Fast & Furious 9’ After Getting Series to Hire First Female Writer

Michelle Rodriguez Joins ‘Fast & Furious 9’ After Getting Series to Hire First Female Writer
The long-running “Fast and Furious” franchise has never lacked powerful female characters onscreen, from Michelle Rodriguez’s Letty to Gal Gadot’s Gisele, but it has struggled to be as representative behind the camera. No woman has ever directed a “Fast and Furious” movie, nor has a female screenwriter ever worked on a “Fast and Furious” script. Fortunately that’s about to change, and it’s all thanks to Michelle Rodriguez.

According to Bloomberg, Rodriguez has officially signed on to reprise her role of Leticia “Letty” Ortiz in “Fast & Furious 9.” The deal was made after Rodriguez secured an agreement to have a female screenwriter join the production. The actress made headlines in June 2017 for an Instagram post in which she threatened to leave the franchise unless producers showed “some love to the women of the franchise on the next one.”

“I felt like there was not enough of

John Wick 4 Already Being Planned Teases Director

John Wick 4 Already Being Planned Teases Director
It seems as though John Wick 4 may already be in the works. Keanu Reeves has been kicking major ass and racking up a seriously impressive number of headshots as the titular assassin ever since the first movie was released in 2014. With John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum hitting theaters this weekend, many fans have been wondering if this will be the final, proper entry in the franchise. Not so fast, as director Chad Stahelski has strongly suggested that a fourth entry is coming our way.

Chad Stahelski has been making the rounds promoting John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum. Recently, he was participating in an Ama and was asked if a fourth movie was in the cards. He initially said, "Up to you guys," since that would heavily depend on box office success. However, later on, he was asked about which movie was most challenging from a stunt perspective. Here's what Stahelski had to say.

Universal considering Fast & Furious spinoff for Charlize Theron’s Cipher

With the first spinoff Hobbs & Shaw set to open this summer, THR is reporting that Universal Pictures is now considering options to expand the Fast & Furious franchise under its ‘Fast & Furious Presents’ banner.

According to the site, the studio and producers hope to grow the blockbuster franchise into a Marvel Studios-type universe, and are actively exploring other ideas “including a female-fronted spinoff built around Charlize Theron’s character Cipher from The Fate of the Furious.”

Theron’s cyber-terrorist villain remained at large by the end of Fate of the Furious, and at this point it’s unclear whether there are any plans to have the character return in either Fast & Furious 9 or Fast & Furious 10, which are reportedly going to bring the curtain down on the main series.

Naturally, Universal’s Fast & Furious universe plans hinge on the success of the Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham

‘John Wick’ Director Chad Stahelski on Franchise’s Future: Assassin Is Never Going to ‘Ride Off Into the Sunset’

‘John Wick’ Director Chad Stahelski on Franchise’s Future: Assassin Is Never Going to ‘Ride Off Into the Sunset’
Editor’s note: Minor spoilers for “John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum” below.]

For fans of the Keanu Reeves-starring action franchise “John Wick,” the third entry in the series comes with more than a few surprises. The biggest one, however: it doesn’t bring a conclusion to the franchise, which will apparently not conclude in a trilogy, as some fans anticipated. In some respects, the film builds an even more solid foundation for future films by delving, in small doses, into the story-world’s own mythology. Thoughts of a “John Wick: Chapter 4” will be instantly stirred by a small scene, following the third installment’s dramatic conclusion, that would seem to tease the premise for another sequel..

And yet director Chad Stahelski warns fans to not over-interpret that moment. “People ask me this all the time, am I ending the movie for a cliffhanger? Is there a number four it’s headed for?

‘John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum’ Review: Dir. Chad Stahelski (2019)

John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum review: Everyone’s favourite pencil-wielding assassin returns for the third chapter of the John Wick franchise. This time John finds himself hunted by everyone after being excommunicated for breaking Continental rules.

Lionsgate UK

Five years ago directors Chad Stahelski and David Leitch, and actor Keanu Reeves, introduced the world to retired assassin, John Wick. The film was a massive sleeper-hit, and after generating mass appreciation, began a new action thriller franchise. Leitch may have left to direct the likes of Atomic Blonde and Deadpool 2, but Stahelski has stayed, directing both John Wick Chapter 2 and the latest film, John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum. Picking-up mere moments after the cliffhanger of the second chapter, John Wick 3 sees Wick excommunicated from all criminal underground resources for his actions against the High Table, with a $14 million bounty on his head. Desperate, and with nowhere else to turn, he calls

Keanu Reeves Reveals His Dream Ending For The John Wick Series

John Wick is a myth.

He’s a legend, essentially – the kind of hitman able to strike fear in the world’s most dangerous assassins from half-way across the world. So it’s small wonder why he’s referred to as Baba Yaga (i.e. the Boogeyman) on numerous occasions throughout the John Wick franchise.

But with Chapter 3 – Parabellum beginning to loom over the horizon, one can’t help but wonder: how many more John Wick movies can Lionsgate realistically put out into the world before audiences grow weary of the formula? Assuming they haven’t already, of course…

Nevertheless, when asked straight-up about his ideal ending for the John Wick series, Keanu Reeves waxed lyrical, and imagined a poetic finale for the world’s most dangerous hitman.

Hmm if it was Marvel. I could do both. I can die in battle and then come back. But what would I prefer?

John Wick 3 Early Reactions Are in and It May Be the Best Chapter Yet

We have our first wave of reactions for John Wick 3: Parabellum. Lionsgate managed to deliver the makings of a rather unsuspecting, absolutely blistering modern action franchise when the first John Wick debuted somewhat quietly in 2014. We're now entering the third installment, which looks like it's yet again going to turn Keanu Reeves into an assassin the likes of which the world has never seen. But does the movie deliver the goods beyond crazy action sequences?

The answer, so far, seems to be a resounding yes. Virtually every critic who has weighed in on social media so far has received the Keanu Reeves positively, if not glowingly. Erik Davis of Fandango went so far as to call it the best of the trilogy. Here's what he had to say about it.

"Finally allowed to say that #JohnWick3 is hands down the best of the three movies. Ridiculously inventive fight scenes,

Keanu Reeves will reportedly appear in Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw

It seems that this month’s hotly-anticipated action thriller John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum may not be the only time we see Keanu Reeves on the big screen this summer, as ThatHashtagShow is reporting that the star is set to make a cameo appearance in August’s Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw.

According to the site, Reeves will make a brief appearance as a “background baddie”, who will be tied to Idris Elba’s villain Brixton and will be pulling the strings behind-the-scenes, much like Charlize Theron’s Cipher in the main series.

The unconfirmed report goes on to claim that “Reeves’ character will be revealed towards the end of the movie. Alternatively, he could appear in an end-credits scene to set up the sequel we all know will be coming.”

A Big Actor is Rumored To Have a Surprise Role in Dwayne Johnson's Hobbs & Shaw

Apparently there’s a big name actor that has a surprise role in Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham’s Hobbs & Shaw. If there is any truth to this rumor, it would be a pretty big spoiler so before I go on, I’m going to throw up one of these!

According to a report from That Hashtag Show, there’s going to be a villain behind the curtain that is pulling the strings. Yes, we all know that Idris Elba’s Brixton will be kicking ass on camera through most of the movie, but there is said to be a mastermind villain that will be revealed, and that mastermind will be played by Keanu Reeves!

"Like Cipher before, there will be a new background baddie pulling the strings for the new, odd couple offset from the main franchise. That villain will be none other than Keanu Reeves."

Well, that would

Keanu Reeves Has Reportedly Joined The Fast And Furious Franchise

Though the absence of a proper Fast and Furious film has no doubt left a car-shaped hole in the summer blockbuster schedule, it appears as if the upcoming spinoff, Hobbs & Shaw will provide enough action and thrills to fill the gap.

In case you haven’t been keeping up, the movie places the spotlight on Dwayne Johnson’s Luke Hobbs and Jason Statham’s Deckard Shaw as they team up alongside new players like Vanessa Kirby, Eiza Gonzalez, Eddie Marsan, Stephanie Vogt and, of course, Idris Elba, who’s playing the villain of the piece. It’s an enviable cast, but it seems that there’s one person who Universal has been keeping in the shadows, waiting until the film hits theaters to reveal him.

As you likely surmised by the title, we’re talking about Keanu Reeves, who’s said to have a secret role in the spinoff. But before we go any further,
