So Cute! Thandie Newton and Ol Parker Are Proud Parents at Their Daughter's Movie Debut
Thandie Newton has one seriously gorgeous family! On Monday, the 46-year-old actress and husband Ol Parker stepped out to support their youngest daughter, 14-year-old Nico, at the La premiere of her new movie, Dumbo. Thandie and Ol beamed with pride as they posed with Nico on the red carpet and linked up with her costar Colin Farrell. Also in attendance were Angelina Jolie and her youngest kids, but missing from the fun were Thandie and Ol's 18-year-old daughter, Ripley, and 5-year-old son, Booker.

The Tim Burton-directed film is a remake of the 1941 Disney classic and marks Nico's debut into the acting world. Despite the fact that Nico's parents are both in the entertainment industry, the 14-year-old initially wasn't interested in acting. "I'd only seen it as, like, the cool thing that my mum does sometimes," she previously told The Hollywood Reporter. However, that all changed once she auditioned for Dumbo.

'Dumbo' Star Nico Parker Auditioned Opposite a Stuffed Polar Bear for Hollywood Debut

'Dumbo' Star Nico Parker Auditioned Opposite a Stuffed Polar Bear for Hollywood Debut
The 14-year-old star of Dumbo wasn't initially so keen on acting. "I'd only seen it as, like, the cool thing that my mum does sometimes," says Nico Parker, the middle child of Westworld's Thandie Newton and writer-director Ol Parker.

Having Dad there to film her self-tape audition for Tim Burton's CG/live-action spin on the Disney classic was handy — but Parker shudders at the memory of her then 12-year-old self's tryout. She sat on the floor of their London kitchen and had a touching moment with a stuffed polar bear that stood in for ...

Mark Kermode’s best films of 2018

From Debra Granik’s flawless drama to Guillermo del Toro’s Oscar-winning fantasy, it’s been quite a ride. See our top 10 list below

Once again, it’s the films I couldn’t find space for in my top 10 that tell us what an exciting year it’s been. From Paul Thomas Anderson’s Phantom Thread (with its brilliant Jonny Greenwood score), which opened here in February, to Yorgos Lanthimos’s The Favourite, which previews from Boxing Day, 2018 was full of strange wonders. Whether it was Andrew Kötting’s adventurous Lek and the Dogs, Damien Chazelle’s grief-stricken First Man, or Ol Parker’s delightfully daft Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again, there were simply too many terrific titles for one list.

The year got off to a flying start with the UK release of a number of awards contenders including Three Billboards Outside Ebbing,

‘Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again’ Review

Stars: Lily James, Amanda Seyfried, Meryl Streep, Andy Garcia, Celia Imrie, Alexa Davies, Jessica Keenan Wynn, Dominic Cooper, Julie Walters, Christine Baranski, Pierce Brosnan, Omid Djalili, Stellan Skarsgård, Cher, Colin Firth | Written and Directed by Ol Parker

Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again doesn’t need any real insightful introduction as it is, of course, the decade long-awaited follow up to the 2008 box office smash hit Mamma Mia, advertently coinciding with the tenth anniversary of the former that somewhat evokes a strange similarity to Linklaters ‘Before Trilogy’ in a sort of majestic operatic version of life and trials and tribulations, albeit far more melodramatic and dazzling in its imperfections.

Interestingly Ol Parker’s sequel takes a structural decision in the same vein as Francis Ford Coppola’s The Godfather: Part II, which is a sentence I truly never thought would exist in this world. It orchestrates itself a sequel to events of its predecessor,

The Sneaky Way Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again Pays Tribute to Abba (Other Than the Music)

  • Popsugar
If you're a diehard Abba fan, you won't be disappointed when you go see Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again. Not only is the soundtrack filled with iconic numbers like "Dancing Queen" and "Super Trouper," but the film features two special cameos from members of the 1970s band. Björn Ulvaeus and Benny Andersson, who also served as executive producers for the sequel, make appearances during "When I Kissed the Teacher" and "Waterloo," respectively.

While Andersson spent most of his time on set playing the piano in the background, Ulvaeus was on camera for most of his scene as he played a professor at Oxford University. Both experiences were entirely different, and director Ol Parker told Entertainment Weekly the two were "enormously generous and supportive" throughout filming. Before you go see the sequel in theaters, here's where you should look out for Ulvaeus and Andersson's cameos!

Camilla and Judi Dench Look Like Best Friends on Vacation as They Hang Out on the Beach
In case you hadn't heard, the UK is enjoying one of the best Summers ever, with record temperatures across the country, and it looks like Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, is taking full advantage of those sunny days. On Tuesday, she made a solo trip to the Isle of Wight, off the south coast of England, where she teamed up with Dame Judi Dench to eat ice cream and hang out on the beach. But this was no ordinary beach; it was the private beach of Queen Victoria, situated next to Osborne House, her former holiday home.

Dame Judi is no stranger to Queen Victoria, having played the monarch in both Mrs Brown and Victoria & Abdul. For the latter, Dame Judi spent some time filming at Osborne House, so she was the perfect person to welcome the duchess to the island. The two seemed to get along famously as they munched

Pop & Rock: ‘Mamma Mia 2’ Puts $43M In Offshore Jukebox, ‘Skyscraper’ Tops China With $48M – International Box Office
Tuesday Update, Writethru with actuals: Universal’s Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again made its debut at the international box office smorgasbord this weekend, belting out $42.9M in 41 markets. The summer sequel, directed by Ol Parker, topped the 2008 movie’s start in 34 of those and danced to No. 1 in 24 openings. Combined with domestic, the sun-kissed origins story kicked off a global launch of $77.9M.

Overall, Mamma Mia 2 came in at No. 2 overseas this weekend, with Universal/Legendary’s Dwayne Johnson-starrer Skyscraper the name of the game in China. That film had booked a rare slot inside the July Middle Kingdom blackout, and nabbed $48.4M (via Legendary East) to come in below Johnson’s recent Rampage, but above Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle. Combined with $29.4M in 67 other overseas markets, the full international weekend was $77.8M.

This follows a disappointing Skyscraper launch last session, and the offshore total is $135.7M
