Emmys 2019 exclusive: Category submissions for Comedy Central, Paramount Network, TV Land

In a Gold Derby exclusive, we have learned the category placements of the key Emmy Awards contenders for Viacom. For this season, the media company has programs for Comedy Central, Paramount Network (“Yellowstone” and “Lip Sync Battle”) and TV Land (“Younger”) as part of their 2019 campaign.

Below, the list of this studio’s lead, supporting and guest submissions for their comedies, dramas, reality and variety programs. More names might be added by the company on the final Emmy ballot. Also note that performers not included on this list may well be submitted by their personal reps.

Mike C. Manning is among the cast of Barry Alexander Brown’s Son of the South, joining Lucas Till, Lucy Hale, Lex Scott Davis, Julia Ormond, Cedric the Entertainer, Jake Abel, Dexter Darden, and Shamier Anderson. The pic, based on Bob Zellner’s autobiography The Wrong Side of Murder Creek, is about the true-life story of Zellner (Till), an Alabama native and grandson of a Birmingham Klansman who is pulled into the center of the civil rights movement. The spring and summer of 1961 challenged the 22-year old to rethink his beliefs as he witnessed the heroism of John Lewis during the Montgomery Freedom Riders riot in May of that year. For most of his career, Kevin Costner has been known for his work on the big screen in films like The Bodyguard and Hidden Figures. But it was getting out in nature to tell the story of a family of ranchers that lured the star into a television project for Paramount Network titled Yellowstone.

Costner said there aren’t enough stories in the mainstream about real life people that work the land like his character John Dutton, during a presentation at Deadline’s The Contenders Emmys on Sunday.

Boyd Holbrook, Kelly Reilly and Alistair Petrie to star in period horror Eight for Silver

Anthropoid director Sean Eillis has enlisted Boyd Holbrook (The Predator), Kelly Reilly (Yellowstone), and Alistair Petrie (Sex Education) to star in his 19th-century set horror Eight for Silver.

Produced by Ld Entertainment, the film takes place in the French countryside in the 1800s and sees Holbrook as John McBride, a pathologist tasked with determining whether the boy of a young boy found in the works was the work of man or beast. McBride finds himself welcomed into the home of a wealthy landowner (Petrie) and his wife (Reilly), where he learns that the couple’s son, a friend of the victim, has also been missing for several weeks.

Filming on Eight for Silver is set to get underway this month in France, with Mickey Liddell and Pete Shilaimon of Ld producing.

Orlando Jones will star in Lexicon’s horror movie “Dark Forces” with Anthony O’Brien (“The Timber”) directing, Variety has learned exclusively.

O’Brien will direct from a screenplay by Lexicon producers Mark Mathias Sayre and Justin Foia. Production is expected to take place this summer in Romania.

Jones will portray a monster movie director who becomes haunted by creatures from his own films while recovering from brain surgery.

Indie film studio Ld Entertainment announced on Friday that will produce writer-director Sean Ellis’ original horror script “Eight for Silver.”

Boyd Holbrook is set to star in the 19th century horror film alongside Kelly Reilly and Alistair Petrie.

‘Yellowstone’ Season 2 Gets Premiere Date On Paramount Network

Paramount Network has slotted Wednesday, June 19, 10 Pm for the season 2 premiere of its hit drama series Yellowstone, starring Kevin Costner. The network also released a first-look photo (above) and teaser clip with the date announcement (below).

Yellowstone was the most-watched new cable series of 2018, averaging 5.1 million total viewers per episode, and ranking second across all cable TV series for the year. The series also is going global after Paramount Network’s sister international channel picked up the series. As previously announced, Paramount Network International acquired seasons 1 and 2 of the drama series, with launch set for this spring on Paramount’s channels in Nordics, Hungary and Poland, followed by UK, Latin America, Spain and Italy. It will also be available on Paramount+ in select territories.
