Tony Richardson was born on June 5, 1928 in Shipley, Yorkshire, England as Cecil Antonio Richardson. He was a director and producer, known for A Taste of Honey (1961), Tom Jones (1963) and The Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner (1962). He was married to Vanessa Redgrave. He died on November 14, 1991 in Los Angeles, California, USA.

Father of Joely Richardson who was born on 09 January 1965 in London, England, UK. Natasha Richardson who was born on 11 May 1963 in London, England, UK and has passed away on 18 March 2009 in New York City. Grandfather of Daisy Bevan Joely's daughter, Michael Richard Antonio Neeson (born on June 22, 1995) and Daniel Jack Neeson (born on August 27, 1996) Natasha's sons.

As president of the Oxford University Dramatic Society, he directed such plays as "Peer Gynt" and "King John". Richardson graduated from Oxford in 1952 and joined the BBC as a producer. In 1956 he became associate director of the English Stage Company. The first play he produced was John Osborne's "Look Back in Anger". This started a fruitful collaborative cycle which included work on several films. Richardson formed his own production company, Woodfall Films, in 1958, turning out high-quality features, such as The Entertainer (1960), A Taste of Honey (1961) and Tom Jones (1963).
