Mini Bio (1)
Daniela (BFA, York University) began her career as a recipient of the Academy of Canadian Cinema & TV's National Apprenticeship Award for directing and editing. Combining those two passions led her to make her mark as a script supervisor, working alongside over one hundred directors and countless A-list actors on notorious feature films and TV series in nine countries. She also served as Associate Director on the highest-rated Canadian holiday special in history ("A Russell Peters Christmas Special") and her own irreverent short films have played notable film festivals and aired on CBC and The Comedy Network. A proud ACTRA member, she trained as an actor at John Strasberg Studios in New York and her ongoing exploration of realism in performance manifests in occasional character roles and informs every aspect of her work.
While studying improv at Second City Toronto, she found her calling in comedy and went on to complete a Post-Grad in Comedy Screenwriting at Humber College. Her stand-up has been described as 'smart and subversive' and has been featured on CBC Radio One and her live comedy room West End Girls has been a fixture in Toronto's independent comedy scene since 2009. She is one-half of the screenwriting duo Nobody's Daughters (with filmmaker Annie Bradley), who most recently won Best Reserve Screenplay at the Female Eye Film Festival in 2014 for their raucous female ensemble comedy feature script "The WBI".
Her talents are varied but her mission is simple: change the world, one laugh at a time.
