What We’d Like to See in John Wick: Chapter 4

Tom Jolliffe looks ahead to the possibility of John Wick: Chapter 4 and some things that would be great to see in the next one (John Wick 3 spoilers follow)…

With John Wick Chapter 3: Parabellum giving Avengers: Endgame a good old fashioned German (actually Belgian) Shepherd nut savaging at the box office this weekend and gaining another set of great reviews to add to a franchise that has had great reviews throughout, it seems inevitable that we’ll see a fourth film within a few years. Keanu Reeves has never had such perfect synergy with a character. The film has slowly enraptured audiences and gained an ever increasing cult following that has seen Mr. Wick become pop culturally significant.

As I mentioned in another piece, there are many reasons why John Wick is one of the two best action franchises (along with the Mission: Impossible films). What we’ve seen beautifully realised,

Bo Report: Keanu Reeves kicks butt in third ‘John Wick’ edition

‘John Wick: Chapter 3: Parabellum.

Defying the law of diminishing returns for sequels, the latest iteration of Lionsgate’s John Wick franchise made more money in its first weekend in Australia than the lifetime total of the previous edition.

Meanwhile Disney/Marvel’s Avengers: Endgame set new milestones in the Us and internationally and Wayne Blair’s Top End Wedding maintained momentum in its third weekend.

Bollywood romantic comedy De De Pyaar De had a respectable debut while Mike Leigh’s Peterloo and Spanish thriller The Realm tanked.

The top 20 titles generated $14.4 million, 13 per cent down on the previous weekend, according to Numero.

Released by Studiocanal, John Wick: Chapter 3 — Parabellum grabbed $4.1 million on 260 locations and $4.3 million including previews. That eclipsed the predecessor which opened with $1.8 million in 2017 and ended up with $4.25 million.

John Wick: Chapter 3 dethrones Avengers: Endgame to top the box office with franchise best opening

After three weeks of decimating the box office, Avengers: Endgame has fallen from the top of the charts this weekend courtesy of Keanu Reeves and the hotly-anticipated John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum.

The third instalment in the acclaimed action series opened in first place in North America and topped tracking estimates of $50 million with an opening haul of $57 million. Throw in a further $35.2 million from 66 markets, and that adds up to a franchise best global bow of $92.2 million.

John Wick is a unique character and franchise that has grown in popularity from film-to-film and keeps getting better and better, thanks to the incredible talent of Keanu Reeves and because of the creativity and true artistry of the filmmaking team and our partners at Thunder Road, as well as director Chad Stahelski,” said Joe Drake, chairman of the Lionsgate Motion Picture Group. “This is the best-reviewed film of the series so far,

Keanu Reeves Wants to Make a Constantine Sequel

Keanu Reeves Wants to Make a Constantine Sequel
Keanu Reeves says he would "love" to come back to the world of Constantine. The movie was released in 2005 and was not very well received by fans of the source material or by critics. John Constantine was introduced by comic book writer/creator Alan Moore while writing the Swamp Thing and he first appeared in June 1985. In 1988, Constantine received his own comic book, entitled Hellblazer, which has been hailed by DC fans for over 30 years now.

Excitement was high on Constantine before it hit theaters, but that quickly faded away. However, Keanu Reeves would still like to come back to the role. Reeves has been talking a lot about past roles over the past several weeks while out promoting John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum. Constantine is on his radar, but Speed 3 unfortunately is not. He explains.

"I've always wanted to play John Constantine again. I just love that world,

John Wick 3 Blasts Past Endgame at the Box Office with Franchise Best Opening

John Wick 3: Parabellum is number one at the box office this weekend after bringing in $57 million domestically. This is the highest debut in the franchise's short history with John Wick ($14.4 million) and John Wick: Chapter 2 ($30.4 million). The action movie, which was helmed by Chad Stahelski, was able to exceed box office expectations and is well on its way to become the highest grossing installment in the franchise, which means this more than likely isn't going to be the last time we see Keanu Reeves as the famous assassin.

Avengers: Endgame was knocked down to number two this weekend with a grand total of $29.4 million. The epic Marvel Studios movie still put up a fight at the box office and is still steadily earning, creeping up on the highest grossing movie of all time record. James Cameron's Avatar still holds the worldwide record at $2.78 billion. As of this writing,

Box Office: ‘John Wick 3’ Knocks Down ‘Avengers: Endgame’ With $57 Million Debut

  • Variety
Earth’s Mightiest Heroes put up a good fight, but John Wick put at end to the three-week box office reign of “Avengers: Endgame.”

Propelled by positive reviews, “John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum” beat expectations with a debut of $57 million from 3,850 North American locations. That was enough to nab the box office crown from “Avengers: Endgame,” Marvel’s latest juggernaut that collected $29.4 million during its fourth weekend of release.

“Parabellum,” the third installment of the action franchise, opened well above its predecessors 2014’s “John Wick” ($14.4 million) and 2017’s “John Wick: Chapter 2” ($30.4 million). “Parabellum” is the first installment in the R-rated series to debut at No. 1 on domestic box office charts. “John Wick 3” also hit a franchise record overseas, bowing with $35 million from 66 international markets for a global start of $92 million.

In “Parabellum,” Keanu Reeves returns as the titular ex-hitman who finds himself on the run from assassins. Stuntman-turned-director Chad Stahelski helmed the movie,

‘John Wick: Chapter 3’ Tops ‘Avengers: Endgame’ With $57 Million Opening

‘John Wick: Chapter 3’ Tops ‘Avengers: Endgame’ With $57 Million Opening
This weekend was a big one at the box office for Lionsgate, as “John Wick: Chapter 3 — Parabellum” gave the studio its biggest opening weekend since the “Hunger Games” series ended back in November 2015. The latest chapter in the story of the vengeful assassin has earned an opening of $57 million from 3,850 screens, nearly double the $30 million opening earned by “John Wick: Chapter 2” in 2017.

At a time when many studios are acquiring recognizable franchises for four-quadrant appeal, “John Wick” was developed entirely in-house at Lionsgate with writer/creator Derek Kolstad and director Chad Stahelski, growing from a cult favorite in 2014 to a potent R-rated summer action title. Critics and audiences have praised the film’s signature fight sequences, giving “Chapter 3” an 88% score on Rotten Tomatoes and an A- on CinemaScore.

As for “Avengers: Endgame,” which saw its time atop the box office charts come to an end this weekend, falling to No.

Why John Wick and Ethan Hunt rule the action genre

Tom Jolliffe looks at the John Wick and Mission: Impossible franchises, the current best in action cinema…

Some Spoilers follow:

So Mr. Wick has just come out for his third adventure. Some suggestion beforehand had hinted it could potentially be his last. Three can often be a good number to close with. Of course that doesn’t stop further adventures but with dust cleared on the carnage of Parabellum, Chad Stahelski lays a very clear path that heads to John Wick 4.

The success of Wick has come a little by surprise. In 2014, when the first film arrived it came out of the blue. A film starring Keanu Reeves, whose box office flame was almost extinguished entirely. Much like Taken a few years prior, there was some mulling over whether to even give the film a theatrical release. After all, it’d been shot for a modest 20 million dollar budget. They released it.

Stars: Keanu Reeves, Ian McShane, Halle Berry, Laurence Fishburne, Anjelica Huston, Mark Dacascos, Asia Kate Dillon, Lance Reddick, Jason Mantzoukas, Jerome Flynn, Robin Lord Taylor | Written by Derek Kolstad, Shay Hatten, Chris Collins, Marc Abrams | Directed by Chad Stahelski

John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum is once again directed by Chad Stahelski, after co-directing the first instalment in 2014 and returned to the director’s chair solo on John Wick: Chapter 2. The latest John Wick instalment takes place momentarily after the previous chapter and finds the titular character on the run against any and all of New York City, including the continental itself. Stahelski’s film is a continuation of the action excellence that is slowly defining the genre. It succeeds in managing to turn the Gun-Fu action up to an eleven and still maintains a fresh, entertaining and energetic vibrancy, with a stunning amount of action entertainment that would make

Film Review: ‘John Wick 3 Parabellum’ is More Bang For Your Buck

Chicago – I must admit that upon initial viewing, I didn’t care much for the original “John Wick” film. Coming as it did in the post “Taken” wave of old guy revenge thrillers, I found it to be stylish but supremely silly nonsense, since it was the death of puppy as the spark that lit the fuse. However as time has gone by, John Wick has grown on me.

Rating: 4.0/5.0

It was “John Wick: Chapter 2” that managed to do a deeper dive into the strange mythology of John Wick’s underground society of assassins … complete with their own code, their own currency, and their own boutique hotel (The Continental). That was the right move, because even in my initial review I recognized that this world building was interesting. fresh and the most promising element.

“John Wick 3 Parabellum” picks up mere moments after the events of Chapter 2, with John Wick (Keanu Reeves

‘John Wick: Chapter 3’ Shoots Up $5.9M Thursday Night
Lionsgate/Summit’s John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum grossed a great $5.9M last night, a figure that blows away the R-rated action pic’s previous previews.
