Shaft Red-Band Trailer: Samuel L. Jackson Delivers More Heat Than You Can Handle

  • MovieWeb
Shaft isn't so much a reboot as it is a revival, bringing together all three generations of the Shaft family including original John Shaft played by Richard Roundtree, his nephew played by Samuel L. Jackson and Shaft's son JJ played by Jesse T. Usher. A new red-band trailer has arrived, showing off a hilarious and restricted look at this hard-hitting action drama that pits boomers and millennials on the same crime fighting task force for quite a lot of generational humor.

Warner Bros. is bringing Shaft back to theaters this summer, with a new R-rated adventure for John Shaft, namesake of his uncle. This is Samuel L. Jackson's first sequel in the franchise, with his reboot arriving way back in 2000, nearly twenty years ago.

Tim Story (the Ride Along and Think Like a Man franchises) directs this new take on a legend, starring Oscar nominee Samuel L. Jackson, Jessie T. Usher,

New Restricted Trailer For Shaft Has Fun Dropping The F-Bomb All Over The Place

Warner Bros. has released a new restricted trailer for director Tim Story’s Shaft movie and it’s littered with vulgar language. I guess we shouldn’t expect anything less from this franchise. The new trailer also leans into the comedy aspect of the film.

Shaft brings together three generations of the Shaft family that includes original Shaft actor Richard Roundtree from the 1970s films; Samuel L. Jackson, who played his nephew. John Shaft II, in the 2000 film; and Jessie T. Usher, who is the newest addition to the Shaft family. He is the estranged son of Jackson's character and a cybersecurity expert.

Shaft is the next chapter in the film franchise featuring the coolest private eye on any New York City block. Jj, aka John Shaft Jr. (Usher), may be a cyber security expert with a degree from MIT, but to uncover the truth behind his best friend’s untimely death,

Dropping F Bombs All Over in Red Band Trailer for Tim Story's 'Shaft'

"He thinks he's the black James Bond." Warner Bros has revealed a second official trailer for the new Shaft movie – a full red band trailer packed with F bombs and foul language galore. Would you expect anything less? This fresh, funny update on Shaft stars three generations of Shafts - Samuel L. Jackson (from the 2000 movie), Richard Roundtree (the original John Shaft from the 1971 movie and TV show), and Jessie T. Usher as the new John Shaft Jr. The cast also includes Regina Hall, Alexandra Shipp, Matt Lauria, Titus Welliver, Method Man, Avan Jogia, and Isaach De Bankolé. In this new movie, John Shaft Jr., now a cyber security expert with a degree from MIT, enlists his father's help to uncover the truth behind his best friend's untimely death. I'm not sure all this humor really works, but at least they're playing crude jokes off of each other. This Shaft

Amazon's Prime Video: A Quiet, Potentially Dominating Force In Streaming

The need for original series becomes a lifeblood for streaming services, where the new is mixed in with the familiar in order to keep a rolling interest for subscribers.

Amazon's monopoly on the online shopping market is well-documented, its reach over the world massive and consuming.

Deep inside its many webs, however, is a streaming service with riches of content, a place filled with television series for larger scale and smaller scale audiences alike.

At its inception, the Prime Video initiative began with something akin to network pilot season, where pilots were commissioned and, based on popularity, would some time later become series.

It's a novel idea, to leave one's pilot season down to the audience, but one with some flaws.

Some pilots struggled with their footing out of the gate, and some simply faded away. The major issue, however, came in the wait time between pilot and the remainder of the season,

‘Bosch’ Review: Amazon’s Cop Drama Remains True Blue Even as It Probes Into Moral Greyness in Season 5

“Bosch” is back and as addictive as ever, showing why it’s Amazon’s oldest continuing original drama despite a call for new blood. As the streaming service is working hard to freshen its programming with big tentpoles like “Jack Ryan” or the upcoming “Good Omens” and “Lord of the Rings,” it always returns to the reliable, meticulous charms of Det. Hieronymus “Harry” Bosch (Titus Welliver).

In its fifth season, “Bosch” once again proves how delving into the everyday drudgery of police work and unspooling cases in an unhurried, unglamorous way can be even more effective than the splashier storytelling on its network counterparts. The series jumps forward about a year after the shocking events of Season 4, when Bosch witnesses his ex-wife Eleanor’s (Sarah Clarke) murder in a drive-by shooting. Grief and anger are mostly in the rearview as Bosch and his undergrad daughter Maddie (Madison Lintz) are now
