Julianne Moore-Michelle Williams Sundance Fest Opener ‘After The Wedding’ Acquired By Sony Pictures Classics

Pic stars Michelle Williams, Julianne Moore, Billy Crudup and Abby Quinn. The film will be released in August.

After The Wedding got good reviews, with Oscar-bait performances for Williams and Moore. The filmmakers pondered several distribution offers, but Freundlich took his time finishing a film that was rushed to make Park City. Spc’s Michael Barker and Tom Bernard released Freundlich’s first film, The Myth of Fingerprints, and has done several with Moore including her Oscar-winning turn in Still Alice. They’ve reunited, and Spc plans an end-of-summer release leading into awards season.

MTV Movie and TV Awards nominations 2019: Full list led by ‘Game of Thrones,’ ‘Avengers: Endgame’ … and Ruth Bader Ginsburg?

MTV Movie and TV Awards nominations 2019: Full list led by ‘Game of Thrones,’ ‘Avengers: Endgame’ … and Ruth Bader Ginsburg?
Ruth Bader Ginsburg leads the MTV Movie and TV Awards nominations” was not a sentence I expected to write today or ever, but indeed she does. The documentary about her life and career, “Rbg,” has a field leading four nominations, which ties it with “Avengers: Endgame” and “Game of Thrones” as the top contender at these kudos, which will air on Monday night, June 17, at 9:00pm Eastern and Pacific.

“Endgame” earned bids for Best Movie, Best Hero (Robert Downey Jr.), Best Villain (Josh Brolin) and Best Fight (Chris Evans vs. Brolin). That’s one more nomination than “Infinity War” received last year: that movie was up for Movie, Villain and Fight, but didn’t win anything. Marvel was still well represented, though, as “Black Panther” was the 2018 champ for Best Movie. The first “Avengers” won three awards including Best Movie, so this would be a nice bookend for the franchise.

‘Avengers: Endgame,’ ‘Game of Thrones’ Dominate MTV Movie & TV Award Nominations
Two of this year’s biggest pop-culture entities, “Avengers: Endgame” and “Game of Thrones,” led the 2019 MTV Movie & TV Awards nominations.

This year’s show will feature three new categories: reality royalty, most meme-able moment, and best real-life hero. And continuing the precedent set in the 2017 show, the awards will not separate nominees by gender.

Marvel’s box office behemoth “Avengers: Endgame” dominated on the film front with four nominations, including best movie. The Oscar-nominated documentary “Rbg,” a touching non-fiction film about Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, nabbed four nods: best movie, most meme-able moment, best fight, and real-life hero.

HBO’s “Game of Thrones” led the way for TV with four nominations. The final season of the fantasy epic was recognized for best show, best hero (Maisie Williams as Arya Stark), best performance (Emilia Clarke as Daenerys Targaryen), and best fight (Arya Stark vs. the White Walkers).
