Helene Winston was born on September 16, 1922 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. She was an actress, known for A Boy and His Dog (1975), Police Woman (1974) and Anne of Green Gables (1956). She died on March 6, 2004 in Woodland Hills, Los Angeles, California, USA.

After retiring from show business in 1993, she became a poet and occasionally gave public readings of her verse. Her latest book was "From Sleeping Libido to Geriatric Erotica".
Her first experience onstage was with Winnipeg's Theatre 77, an amateur company named for the number of steps between the theatre and the famous Portage & Main intersection.
Was married twice, and outlived both husbands.
She played Larry King's Jewish mother on "King of Kensington" (1975), a role that suited her well. She grew up Jewish in an area of Winnipeg with a large European immigrant population.
