Jessica Chastain takes the lead in new political thriller Miss Sloane. And here's the new trailer..

Political lobbying is about foresight, anticipating your opponents’ moves and advising counter-measures, Jessica Chastain explains in the trailer for the upcoming thriller Miss Sloane. She left out prying guns from cold, dead hands.

The trailer shows Chastain’s lobbyist going into the lion’s den with co-stars Mark Strong, Sam Waterston and Gugu Mbatha-Raw.

Miss Sloane was directed by John Madden. The screenplay was written by by Jonny Perera. The film also stars Michael Stulbarg, Alison Pill, Jake Lacy, and John Lithgow. It was produced by Ben Browning, Kris Thykier and Ariel Zeitoun.

John Madden’ Miss Sloane Starring Jessica Chastain To Be Released December 9, 2016

EuropaCorp and FilmNation announced today that Miss Sloane will be released on December 9. The film is directed by Oscar-nominated John Madden (The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, Shakespeare In Love) and is based on the original screenplay by Jonathan Perera.

Oscar-nominated actress Jessica Chastain (Zero Dark Thirty, Interstellar) stars in the title role of Elizabeth Sloane. The film is produced by FilmNation’s Ben Browning and Archery PicturesKris Thykier along with EuropaCorp’s Ariel Zeitoun, FilmNation’s Patrick Chu and Aaron Ryder serves as the executive producers.

Also starring in the film are Mark Strong (Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy), Gugu Mbatha-Raw (Beyond The Lights, Belle), Michael Stuhlbarg (A Serious Man), Alison Pill (The Newsroom), Jake Lacy (Carol), Oscar-nominated actor Sam Waterston (The Killing Fields, Law & Order), and Oscar-nominated John Lithgow (Interstellar, Dexter).

German distribs close Afm deals
Exclusive: New films by David Cronenberg, Quentin Dupieux and Lone Scherfig are among the titles acquired by German distributors at this year’s Afm.

Christian Meinke’s Mfa+ has picked up David Cronenberg’s Maps To The Stars, starring Robert Pattinson, Julianne Moore and John Cusack, and Tobias Lindholm’s thriller A Hijacking (Kapringen), about a Danish cargo ship hijacked by Somali pirates.

Mfa+ has also picked up producer/actor Vincent Grashaw’s feature debut Coldwater, which premiered at this year’s SXSW festival and won the audience award for best feature at Prague’s Fresh Film Festival.

Munich-based Tiberius Film came back from Santa Monica with another three titles in its luggage along with the films it had picked up at the beginning of the market.

Tiberius catches Monster, Angelique
German distributor Tiberius Film has acquired German distribution rights to Ryan Gosling’s feature directorial debut How To Catch A Monster, sold by Nick Meyer’s Sierra/Affinity.

Tiberius also released Gosling-starrer Only God Forgives earlier this year.

The thriller is set in a vanishing city where a single mother is drawn into a dark underworld, while her son discovers a secret underwater town.

Starring Saoirse Ronan, Christina Hendricks, Eva Mendes and Matt Smith, the film is now in post for delivery in early 2014.

Marc Platt and Adam Siegel produce on behalf of Marc Platt Productions, along with Gosling via his Phantasma Films banner, and Michel Litvak and David Lancaster via Bold Films.

Tiberius has also announced, just ahead of the Afm, that it has taken on Angelique sold by EuropaCorp.

Ariel Zeitoun’s period romantic drama stars Nora Arnezeder, Gérard Lanvin, Tomer Sisley and David Kross.

Michael Vartan going to 'Colombiana'

Michael Vartan will star in the action thriller "Colombiana," opposite Zoe Saldana.According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film is being produced and co-written by Luc Besson with Olivier Megaton ("Transporter 3") directing.Besson wrote the script with Robert Mark Kamen; the two have collaborated on "Taken," "The Transporter" and "The Fifth Element."Besson is producing with Pierre-Ange Le Pogam and Ariel Zeitoun.The film centers on a woman (Saldana) who witnessed her parents' murder in Bogota as a child. She grows up to become an assassin by day and seeks out the mobster responsible for the deaths of her parents by night.Vartan will play Saldana's artist boyfriend, who is in the dark as to what she does for a living.Production will begin later
