That album, “Let’s Rock,” is out now (Barack Obama just put the track “Go” on his summer playlist), and next month, the Keys will embark on a U.S. arena tour with Modest Mouse.

“Somehow my 17-year-old self has manifested some sort of dream,

Stella Donnelly Is as Fearless as She Is Funny

The first time Stella Donnelly sang about her vibrator, her parents were in the crowd. “It was very classic,” she says, laughing. “A really funny moment of like, ‘Well, here I am!’” After years of singing in a corporate cover band, the 26-year-old Welsh-Australian singer has fully embraced her brazen, no-fucks-given songwriting attitude. “I’d gone for so long singing other people’s songs and pretending to be happy when I’m not,” Donnelly says. “I have no other way of being able to write now than to be real.

Written and produced by Auerbach and Carney, they recorded the single at Auerbach’s Easy Eye Sound studio in Nashville, Tennessee. “Lo/Hi” finds the duo in a classic blues-rock mode, with Auerbach moaning over a distorted riff and his bandmate’s crunching drum track. “Nobody to love you, nobody to care,” he sings. “Nobody to drug you, no one to hold back your hair.

On this day in pop culture history: ‘The Lion King’ stepped into the sun
One of Disney’s greatest treasures has been with us for 22 years. It was on June 24, 1994 that The Lion King opened in theaters across the country. The tale of a Simba stepping into the light and into his father’s footsteps was an instant hit with both audiences and critics, and it earned four Oscar nominations for its breathtaking music, winning two of those — one for Hans Zimmer’s score and one for Elton John and Tim Rice-penned song “Can You Feel the Love Tonight.” The Lion King has remained one of Disney’s most celebrated and beloved films, and that was clear when its 3D re-release hit theaters in 2011, becoming a box office juggernaut as parents who were young upon the original release of the film towed their young ones to the theater for the treat of seeing the beauty of the animated savannah on the big screen again.
