“I think you come into a show, and certainly when I came in and I met with the writers on the first day, I had ways that I wanted to tell the stories,” Hissrich said. “Much like you do with a writer’s room, which is there’s nine of us in there, and my way isn’t always going to be the best way, and the sooner that I learn that the easiest it is to do my job.”

“There are definitely times where on Twitter people would point things out to me that I would say like,

The Witcher Series Showrunner Says Fans of The Game Will Love The Show

The first trailer for Netflix’s The Witcher series dropped at Comic-Con last week and fans seemed to love what it had to offer! This series is being adapted from the books written by Andrzej Sapkowski and not the video game franchise. But, that doesn’t mean fans of the game won’t like it!

Lauren Schmidt Hissrich, the showrunner for The Witcher, has reassured fans of the game that they are going to “love the show” if you’ve enjoyed the characters and stories from the games. While talking to Cb about the series, she explained:

“You know, I've played the games, but really our stories are coming from the book, and what's cool to follow up to your follow up, is that I think there's a lot of concern, will the television show be for game fans as well? I absolutely think so. If you think about how adaptations work,

‘The Witcher’ Showrunner Says Netflix Series Will Never Adapt the Video Games

  • The Wrap
Netflix’s “The Witcher” is best known in the U.S. for the series of role playing video games by CD Projekt Red rather than the fantasy novels by Polish writer Andrzej Sapkowski that inspired the games. But if the show ever moves past the story laid out in the books like “Game of Thrones” did, Showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich says fans should definitely not expect it to mine the games for material.

“Extreme long vision is no, we will not start adapting the games,” Hissrich told TheWrap during a press round table at San Diego Comic-Con 2019. “I can only attack one season at a time, I’m so excited for this one, the rest kind of makes my mind explode right now. If someone says ‘what happens in Season 7,’ sure I have thoughts. Fingers crossed, we get there.”

The games, in case you’re not familiar, are a trilogy
