D.J. Nash (‘A Million Little Things’ creator) on how a friend’s suicide inspired the show about coping with loss [Exclusive Video Interview]

D.J. Nash reveals that the idea for “A Million Little Things” came from a tragic personal experience. While he was working on another series, which he describes as “the worst gig of my career,” he ran into a friend on the lot and made plans for lunch. But shortly thereafter, his friend died by suicide. “I don’t think that our lunch could have saved him,” Nash continues, “but I do think, pretty much every day, that we could’ve had one more lunch.” Watch our exclusive video interview with Nash above.

After that experience Nash envisioned a series about a tight-knit group of friends whose lives are rocked when one of them (Ron Livingston) takes his own life. “It made me put things in perspective,” says Nash about the loss of his friend. “It made me realize things and look at life in a different way. ‘Mother’s Little Helpers’ Filmmaker & Star Kestrin Pantera Signs With ICM
Exclusive: Following the SXSW World Premiere of Mother’s Little Helpers, writer/director/star Kestrin Pantera has inked with ICM Partners.

The agency is also repping the sale of the dysfunctional-family dramedy feature, which is also the follow up to Pantera’s feature directorial debut, Let’s Ruin It With Babies.

Based on true events and inspired by true lies, Mother’s Little Helpers is about how family ties can twist and tear a person and send them to jail. When Joy Pride, a groovy 70s burn-out on the caboose of the flower power movement, learns she has weeks to live, her estranged children reluctantly come together to do right by a mother who always did them wrong.

The film also stars Milana Vayntrub, Breeda Wool, Melanie Hutsell, David Giuntoli, Sam Littlefield and Cool Benson (Jonny’s Sweet Revenge).

Pantera has created several TV series for AwesomenessTV, also a showrunner for digital shows on Facebook and has directed commercials for clients ranging from Wired to J&J.

Before directing, Pantera was a classically trained musician-turned-rocker, playing cello in rock bands in Los Angeles and on tour around the world. Prior to moving to La, she lived in Taipei, Taiwan for almost two years, where she became fluent in Mandarin and performed voice-overs for 100+ American and Southeast Asian companies.

Pantera continues to be managed by Bold MP’s Anna Liza Recto and Michael Kaleda, who also served as co-executive producers on the dramedy.

We Won't Get An Answer to Those Cliffhangers on A Million Little Things For a Long, Long Time

With every new episode of A Million Little Things, we got a whole new batch of wild questions. Who is Barbara Morgan? Why did Jon decide to end his life? And why, oh why, is Eddie the worst?!

While the season one finale tied up many of the ABC drama's biggest loose threads on Thursday, a few more cliffhangers were introduced to take their place. For instance, we're now left wondering if Patrick (aka Pj) will figure out his dad is actually Dave, Jon's late best friend and former roommate. Or if Eddie is actually going to tell Katherine the truth about Delilah's baby, ruining their fresh start. So, when will be getting the answers to those questions?

Will Katherine and Eddie Break Up For Good in A Million Little Things? Here's What We Know

Will Katherine and Eddie Break Up For Good in A Million Little Things? Here's What We Know
Warning: spoilers for the season finale of A Million Little Things below!

You know what, guys? I'm just going to come right out and say it: I can't stand Eddie Saville. Sure, the A Million Little Things character (played by David Giuntoli) is handsome, is musically gifted, and definitely has a sweet side, but none of that makes up for his continuous stream of bad decisions and terrible clichés.

His worst decision, by far, is cheating on his workaholic lawyer wife, Katherine (Grace Park), who deserves way, way better than him. (I'm still sad her relationship with Hot Hunter didn't work out.) But alas, the two decide to give things another go in the emotional season one finale after realizing they're stronger together and they need to try to make things work for their young son. But at the last second, after vowing that there will no longer be any lies between them,
