The Moody Blues Poster

Trivia (3)

The name "Moody Blues" came about because band founder Michael Pinder was trying to get a sponsorship from a brewery named Mitchells and Butlers, and thought if he came up with a name with the same initials it might sway the brewery (it didn't). He picked "Moody" because one of his favorite songs was Duke Ellington's "Mood Indigo" and "Blues" because he was a fan of blues music.
Despite their status as pioneers of progressive rock and their enduring popularity and album sales of 70 million, critical respect has largely eluded them and they weren't inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame until 2018, 29 years after they were first eligible.
