'Possessor' draws Cannes buyers for Arclight Films (exclusive)
Brandon Cronenberg sci-fi thriller sells in Scandinavia, Latin America.

Brandon Cronenberg’s sci-fi thriller Possessor starring Andrea Riseborough has drawn more buyers for Arclight Films, which wrapped principal photography in Toronto last weekend.

Rights have gone to Scandinavia (Sandrew Metronome), Cis (Top Film Distribution), Middle East (Italia), Latin America (Turner Broadcasting), and Greece and Cyprus (Spentzos).

Christopher Abbott, Rossif Sutherland, and Tuppence Middleton star with Sean Bean and Jennifer Jason Leigh. As Previously announced, Well Go USA will distribute in the Us, and Elevation Pictures will release in Canada.

Arclight Films closes deals on 'Assimilate', 'Öndög' (exclusive)

Germany, Latin America, Spain among buyers.

Gary Hamilton’s Arclight Films has announced a raft of sales on Cam Gigandet and Joel Courtney bodysnatcher sci-fi thriller Assimilate and Wang Quan’an’s Mongolian Berlinale selection Öndög.

Assimilate, about youngsters who use their web series to alert the outside world that aliens are killing and replacing their fellow small town residents, has gone to Splendid Film for Benelux, Germany, and Switzerland.

Rights have also gone in Latin America (Gussi), Japan (Fine Films), Malaysia and Thailand (Logo Motion Pictures), Greece (Spentzos), and Vietnam (Vietnam Mango Films). Gravitas Ventures will release the film

Screen Media and Legion M announced today the acquisition of all North American rights to Alexandre O. Philippe's documentary feature film Memory: The Origins of Alien. The film premiered to rave reviews in the Midnight Section at the 2019 Sundance Film Festival and screened at the Hong Kong International Film Festival, Cph: Dox, Hot Docs and many others. Screen Media and Legion M plan to release the film in theaters this summer, timed to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the theatrical release of Alien. The deal comes on the heels of Screen Media's recent acquisition of Corporate Animals, which also premiered in the Midnight Section of the 2019 Sundance Film Festival. After winning the Nightfall Award at last year's Los Angeles Film Festival, Elle Callahan's Head Count has been acquired by Samuel Goldwyn Films for North American distribution this June.

Betty Gilpin, who recently appeared on the silver screen in New Line’s rom-com Isn’t It Romantic, has officially boarded The Hunt, the Universal Pictures/Blumhouse Productions action thriller penned Damon Lindelof and Nick Cuse. The Emmy nominated star of Netflix’s female wrestling series, Glow, joins Ike Barinholtz, Emma Roberts, Justin Hartley, and Glenn Howerton in the film which is being directed by Craig Zobel.

Scheduled for release in October, the pic explores escalating aggressiveness between the political right and left in America. Jason Blum will produce alongside Lindelof for his White Rabbit shingle.
