‘Misbehaviour’: First Look At Gugu Mbatha-Raw In Miss World Protest Pic
Here’s a first look at Belle and Fast Color star Gugu Mbatha-Raw in comedy-drama Misbehaviour, based on the true story behind the disruption of the 1970 Miss World contest by the newly-formed Women’s Liberation Movement. Production has now wrapped in the UK.

Mbatha-Raw plays Miss Grenada, Jennifer Hosten, who was the first black woman to win the Miss World title. Cast comprises Keira Knightley, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Jessie Buckley, Greg Kinnear, Lesley Manville, Keeley Hawes, Rhys Ifans and Phyllis Logan, Suki Waterhouse, Clara Rosager, Loreece Harrison, Emma Corin, Lily Newmark, Emma D’Arcy, Ruby Bentall and Alexa Davies.

Philippa Lowthorpe directs from a script written by Rebecca Frayn (The Lady) with revisions by Gaby Chiappe (Their Finest). Producers are Suzanne Mackie (The Crown) and by Sarah-Jane Wheale. Gugu Mbatha-Raw is Miss World in first image from Misbehaviour

With principal photography now underway, Pathe has unveiled the first image has been released from the upcoming comedy drama Misbehaviour. Directed by Philippa Lowthorpe, the film tells the story of the disruption caused by the Women’s Liberation Movement during the 1970 Miss World contest and features Gugu Mbatha-Raw as Jennifer Hosten, the first black woman to be crowned Miss World.

In 1970, the Miss World competition took place in London, hosted by Us comedy legend, Bob Hope. At the time, Miss World was the most-watched TV show on the planet with over 100 million viewers. Claiming that beauty competitions demeaned women, the newly-formed Women’s Liberation Movement achieved overnight fame by invading the stage and disrupting the live broadcast of the competition. Not only that, when the show resumed, the result caused uproar: the winner was not the Swedish favourite but Miss Grenada – the first black woman to be crowned Miss World.

First Image From The Upcoming Comedy-Drama ‘Misbehaviour’

Pathé has debuted the very first look image at the upcoming Misbehaviour, a new comedy set around the 1970 Miss World contest. The film revolves around the true story behind the disruption of the 1970 Miss World contest by the newly-formed Women’s Liberation Movement.

The first still to be released by the production is of Gugu Mbatha-Raw in the role of Miss Grenada, Jennifer Hosten, who was the first black woman to win the Miss World title.

Alongside the previously announced ensemble, additional cast joining the production included Suki Waterhouse, Clara Rosager, Loreece Harrison, Emma Corin, Lily Newmark, Emma D’Arcy, Ruby Bentall and Alexa Davies.

Cursed Child premiere: Red carpet opening for the West End’s most in-demand new theatre production.

The Harry Potter and the Cursed Child premiere took place on Saturday at the Palace Theatre in the heart of the West End.

On Saturday afternoon, the highly anticipated Harry Potter and the Cursed Child had its official gala opening in London’s West End at the Palace Theatre. Harry Potter creator and author J.K. Rowling attended the red carpet event, along with the other members of the creative team behind the new play and some other very familiar faces.

Due to phenomenal demand, producers last week announced that a further 250,000 tickets will be released for sale this week on Thursday 4 August 2016 at 11am BST, booking through to 10 December 2017. Tickets are priced from £15 and for every performance there will be 300 tickets at £20 or less per part.

Poldark: Season Three Renewal for BBC One Series?

Radio Times reports the Poldark TV show has been renewed for a third season on BBC One. According to the report, although the BBC has not yet announced recommissioning the program for a third series, filming has already been scheduled for September, 2016. In the Us, season one of Poldark premiered on PBS under the Masterpiece banner in June 2015. The second season of Poldark will air on BBC One in fall, 2016. PBS has yet to announce Poldark, season two.

New trailer for ITV’s Jekyll & Hyde

ITV has released a new trailer for Charlie Higson’s upcoming action fantasy series Jekyll & Hyde, which sees Tom Bateman (Da Vinci’s Demons) leading the cast as Robert Jekyll and his alter-ego Mr. Hyde. Check it out below…

Set in 1930’s London at a time of Hollywood glamour, aerodynamic cars and monster movies, the drama will pay homage to the Stevenson novel, and focus on the young, attractive, troubled hero, Robert Jekyll, the grandson of the original doctor. At the heart of the drama is Robert Jekyll’s quest to discover his real identity, his true family history and the nature of his ‘curse’. Jekyll transforms into Hyde in moments of extreme anger, stress and when his or the lives of others are threatened.

Higson’s Jekyll is a young, sensitive and naïve man of intellect and morality, a well meaning if slightly repressed character who slips between his two personas unwillingly.

Tom Bateman, Richard E Grant and Natalie Gumede for ITV's Jekyll & Hyde

Tom Bateman and Richard E Grant have been cast in ITV's Jekyll & Hyde.

The ten-part adventure drama - based on Robert Louis Stevenson's 1886 novella - will also star Coronation Street's Natalie Gumede.

Bateman will take the role of Robert Jekyll, Grant will play Sir Roger Bulstrode, and Gumede will star as Bella.

The cast of the series also includes Stephanie Hyam (Murdered By My Boyfriend), Donald Sumpter (Game of Thrones), Amit Shah (Hustle), Phil McKee (Ripper Street) and Christian McKay (Rush).

Ruby Bentall (The Paradise), Enzo Cilenti (Game of Thrones), Lolita Chakrabarti (The Smoke), Michael Karim (Inspector Lewis) and Ace Bhatti (Silk) will feature in supporting roles.

The series will be set in 1930s London, and will focus on the grandson of the doctor featured in Stevenson's story.

Colin Teague will direct the series, which begins filming in Sri Lanka later this month. Production will take place in London from February until July.

The Paradise: Cancelled After Two Seasons

While Mr. Selfridge has supposedly been renewed, BBC1 has pulled the plug on The Paradise. There won't be a third season for the period drama.

The Paradise revolves around the people who work and shop at the first English department store. Set in 1875, castmembers have included Emun Elliott, Joanna Vanderham, Elaine Cassidy, Sarah Lancashire, Matthew McNulty, Peter Wight, David Hayman, Stephen Wight, Sonya Cassidy, Ruby Bentall, Finn Burridge, and Patrick Malahide.

Of the cancellation, a BBC spokesperson said, "We are incredibly proud to have made two successful series of period drama The Paradise for BBC1. However, in order to make room for new dramas to come through, The Paradise won't be returning."
