The new look delves straight into an aspiring rapper Patricia DomBrowski’s, aka Patti Cake$, struggles in her quest for lyrical domination. Battling constant put downs from her own bitter mother to coming up against a bullying rapper who thinks it’s clever using her weight as the basis for his scathing rap battle attempt. Patti surrounds herself with supportive friends and her hip yet foul-mouthed grandmother to make some truly original music that surprises her most harsh critics.
This edgy, heartfelt coming-of-age film is the feature film debut of Music director Geremy Jasper – he also penned the script – who has directed music videos for the likes of Florence and the Machine and Selena Gomez.

This moment was a long and winding journey for writer-director Geremy Jasper. To look at him, you would never guess his alter ego would be Patricia Dombroski (aka Patti Cake$, aka Killer P, played by Macdonald), a 23-year-old, heavy-set Jersey girl with dreams of rap stardom. Jasper is tall, extremely easygoing, and has the style of a Williamsburg creative. In his 20s, he was the front man for a popular indie rock band, The Fever, and starred in Benh Zeitlin’s breakout short, “Glory at Sea.”

Song to Song will follow two couples who become entangled: A pair of struggling songwriters played by Rooney Mara and Ryan Gosling and a music mogul and a waitress played by Michael Fassbender and Natalie Portman. Billed as a "modern love story," the two couples will "chase success through a rock and roll landscape of seduction and betrayal.
That style earned him loyal audiences online, particularly with the more discerning Vimeo crowd, the platform that released “Goldbricks In Bloom” through its VOD service. Sangra’s shorts often earn the coveted “Vimeo Staff Pick” distinction, and they partnered with OneFifty to release the film digitally, while Emerging Pictures supported a small national theatrical release.
While not quite the cinderella story of A24’s “Swiss Army Man” directors the Daniels, who also started making music videos and digital content, it’s not bad for a first feature.

Skrillex and Diplo opted to give the upcoming ID its inaugural play at Reading Festival this week, and one fortuitous fan captured a rip of the audio for the rest of us to enjoy. After an introduction from Diplo, a gentle backing track fills the speakers joined by Florence Welch’s powerful singing. After a vocal driven verse, the song moves into the drops, which feature crashing percussion, bell melodies and rhythmic future bass chords.
