Movie Review – Thriller (2019)

Thriller. 2019.

Directed by Dallas Jackson.

Starring Jessica Allain, Mitchell Edwards, Maestro Harrell, Paige Hurd, Chauncey Jenkins, Michael Ocampo, Chelsea Rendon, Tequan Richmond, RZA, Pepi Sonuga, Luke Tennie, Mykelti Williamson, and Jason Woods.

Synopsis:

A childhood prank comes back to haunt a clique of South Central Los Angeles teens when their victim returns home during their high-school Homecoming weekend.

Dallas Jackson’s Thriller is the culturally characteristic slasher flavor Horror Noire: A History Of Black Horror’s call to action demands based on thematic perspective – but in terms of genre execution? South Central La plays backdrop to a generic-at-fault teenage “killer out for revenge” flick that’s as introductory-level as they come. A childhood prank gone wrong, a hooded stalker, high school students picked off one-by-one: you’ve seen mirrored frameworks before and with meaner enthusiasm. It’s important that black cinema exists, specifically in horror, but quality and intent are two separate entities.

Blumhouse’s Slasher Film ‘Thriller’ Surprises With Netflix Premiere Date

  • Deadline
Blumhouse gave us a jump scare today as they announced that they will drop the Divide/Conquer-produced slasher film Thriller on Netflix on April 14. Following the surprise release of last week’s horror Mercy Black, this is the second time Blumhouse has surprised us with a release date for one of their films.

Written and directed by filmmaker Dallas Jackson and executive produced by RZA, Thriller is cut from the same cloth as classic slasher films like Prom Night and Halloween, but subverts the genre which usually takes place in white suburbia and sets it in modern-day Compton, CA, where teenagers experience an unforgiving cityscape of racism and violence.

Through the a black horror lens, the movie follows the story of an introverted young man named Chauncey Page who is sent to juvenile hall after he accidentally kills a young woman who is part of a group of tormentors that

‘Leprechaun Returns’ DVD Review

Stars: Taylor Spreitler, Pepi Sonuga, Sai Bennett, Linden Porco, Mark Holton, Oliver Llewellyn Jenkins, Heather McDonald, Ben McGregor, Emily Reid | Written by Suzanne Kelly | Directed by Steven Kostanski

Who would’ve though that back in the 90s, when the original film debuted, we’d still be talking about the Leprechaun franchise over 25 years later? It almost didn’t happen of course. The previous film in the series, Leprechaun Origins – produced by the WWE no less And a film that had a small theatrical run in the Us – almost… almost, killed the franchise stone dead. However Syfy, god bless their genre-loving souls, decided to give the series another shot – this time under the auspices of one of the members of Astron-6, director Steven Kostanski and writer Suzanne Kelly, who gave Evil Dead fans one the The best episodes of Ash vs Evil Dead in the episode “Ashy Slashy”. DVD Review – Leprechaun Returns (2018)

Leprechaun Returns, 2018.

Directed by Steven Kostanski.

Starring Taylor Spreitler, Pepi Sonuga, Sai Bennett, Mark Holton, Linden Porco, and Emily Reid.

Synopsis:

A group of eco-warrior students tear down a farmhouse and unwittingly awaken the dormant Leprechaun that fell into the well 25 years before.

The second reboot for this franchise after the abysmal Leprechaun: Origins back in 2014, Leprechaun Returns follows the current trend for horror franchises by being a direct sequel to the original movie and totally writing off all of the other sequels, which in the case of the Leprechaun series is probably a good thing.

Leprechaun Returns picks up 25 years after the events of the first film and sees Lila (Taylor Spreitler – Amityville: The Awakening) arriving at the site of the old farmhouse where her mother Tory (played by Jennifer Aniston in the first film) used to live, and where she is hooking up with a group of sorority

A Pot-o'-Gold Goes Missing in this First Trailer for Leprechaun Returns!

The SyFy Network has released the first trailer for Leprechaun Returns. This is the first film in the series, since 2014's Leprechaun: Origins. There have been a total of eight films in the franchise, with the first one starring Jennifer Anniston and Warwick Davis, way back in 1993. This latest title follows the first film, with a Leprechaun searching for his pot-o-gold. Meanwhile, a sorority house is being built over his golden stash. This latest film stars: Taylor Spreitler, Sai Bennett, Pepi Sonuga, Ben McGregor, and Emily Reid. Steven Kostanski (The Void) has directed this feature, with more film details below. A creature feature, Leprechaun Returns was developed by a number of production companies. SyFy has been involved, along with Blue Ice Pictures and Out of Africa Entertainment. This team endeavour is slated for a mid-December run on Digital platforms. This latest film follows a similar plot, compared to the original.

He's Back Again! First Trailer for 'Leprechaun Returns' Horror Sequel

"I've got a lot of killin' to make up for...!" Syfy has released an official trailer for the upcoming horror sequel Leprechaun Returns, being release straight-to-vod in December. Remarkably, the Leprechaun series is currently on its eighth film. The most recent two were Leprechaun: Origins in 2014 (did anyone see this?) and Leprechaun: Back 2 tha Hood, of course, back in 2003. This new one even includes an old character from the original 1993 film, Mark Holton. And unfortunately Warwick Davis is not back this time, instead Linden Porco plays the super creepy Leprechaun. He returns once again, when a group of girls unwillingly awaken him, while they tear down a cabin so that they can build a new sorority house. The full cast includes Taylor Spreitler, Sai Bennett, Pepi Sonuga, Ben McGregor, and Emily Reid. This seriously looks crazy messed up and seriously twisted, not to mention packed with a bunch of bad one-liners.

The Maniacal Leprechaun is Back in New Trailer For Leprechaun Returns

Leprechaun Returns is the eighth movie in the Leprechaun horror movie franchise. We’ve got a new trailer for the movie for you to watch that sees the return of the villainous and twisted Leprechaun as he terrorizes a group of sorority girls.

This is one of those silly horror franchises that I’ve enjoyed watching and it all started in 1993 with Jennifer Aniston, who was just starting her acting career. It also starred Warwick Davis as the Leprechaun.

I know this new film won’t have the same effect on fans as the original did, but it still looks like ridiculous fun. Here’s the synopsis:

The film picks up 25 years after the events of the 1993 original, which found a maniacal Leprechaun doing whatever it takes (including committing gruesome murder) to track down his stolen pot of gold. Leprechaun Returns finds the leprechaun revived in the modern day when

Leprechaun Returns Poster Targets One Very Unlucky Sorority

Leprechaun Returns Poster Targets One Very Unlucky Sorority
Longtime horror fans know it's been a wild ride for the Leprechaun movie series. The saga first began when Warwick Davis took on the role of the titular villain in the original 1993 film. Five sequels would follow, with each one somehow being even crazier than the one before it. Although WWE Studios released a film reboot in 2014, the franchise is now going back to its roots with the new film Leprechaun Returns, which will serve as a direct sequel to the original movie. This time, the evil Leprechaun will be going after sorority sisters, as shown in an all new poster for the upcoming sequel.

Of course, this isn't the first we've gotten to see from the upcoming movie. Earlier this year, a teaser trailer was released by SyFy for Leprechaun Returns with a 2019 release date attached. However, it has since been announced that Lionsgate will be releasing the movie on digital platforms next month.

Blumhouse's Thriller Trailer Turns a Childhood Prank Into a Nightmare

Blumhouse's Thriller Trailer Turns a Childhood Prank Into a Nightmare
Blumhouse is going all in on its winning barebones production formula with the cheap-looking Thriller, which makes it extra scary by default. Its loose production values add a certain aura to this haunting tale that you would never get with a big budget horror project. Oh, and we should mention, since it's returning to theaters today, this has nothing to do with Michael Jackson's Thriller, which is playing in 3D alongside The House With a Clock in Its Walls.

Thriller is the latest low budget creeper from Blumhouse, who are gearing up to release the much more high profile Halloween sequel in theaters next month. Dallas Jackson directs Thriller, which tells of a childhood prank gone horribly wrong. You get to see that prank happen here, and the outcome will definitely turn your stomach. The dollar store production aesthetic adds a sense of realism that comes across like a snuff film.
