Hendricks and his younger sister Eva, Charly Bliss’ lead singer, have a set working process in their band, with Sam often writing the music and Eva writing lyrics. But the new song they began writing

See Susan Tedeschi, Dave Matthews Band Cover Neil Young’s ‘Cortez the Killer’
Dave Matthews Band welcomed blues singer-guitarist Susan Tedeschi to the stage on Wednesday night for a searing take on Neil Young’s “Cortez the Killer.” The 11-minute version of the sprawling epic, originally found on Young’s 1975 album Zuma, was performed during the band’s show at the Vystar Veterans Arena in Tedeschi’s home city of Jacksonville, Florida.

Tedeschi, on a rare break from the road with her hard-touring Tedeschi Trucks Band, traded vocals with Matthews and took the opportunity to flex her guitar chops with a gritty, extended solo after the first verse.

A Hostless Oscars? The Last Time the Academy Tried That, Things Got Ugly
But be careful what you wish for, all you who have longed for a hostless Oscars after Kevin Hart dropped out in December — and the Academy failed to line up a replacement.

After all, the last Academy Awards show that didn’t have a host, the 61st Oscars in 1989, is widely considered the worst Oscars ever. No, the lack of a host didn’t really have much to do with the show’s multitudinous failures. And no, this year’s producer, Donna Gigliotti, and co-producer and director, Glenn Weiss, aren’t likely to make the kind of mistakes that Allan Carr made back then.

But looking at that show, it’s hard not to think that a steady hand at the helm would have helped.

The Raven is about metamorphosis,” Ricki Lake revealed to Nick Cannon about why she chose to dress up as the black bird on Fox’s “The Masked Singer” (watch above). Ricki was voted out of the reality TV show in Wednesday’s episode after her performance of Sara Bareilles‘ “Brave” failed to earn enough votes from the judges and in-studio audience. “[Raven] is about death, but it’s also about rebirth,” she continued on. “I went through the loss of my husband last year and this really was an opportunity for me to sort of share my journey through his loss. He was the best thing that ever happened to me.”

The Backstreet Boys Were Hitless for Years. Then They Met Stuart Crichton

The Backstreet Boys Were Hitless for Years. Then They Met Stuart Crichton
The last eight months have been full of “first since” moments for the Backstreet Boys: “Don’t Go Breaking My Heart” became their first Grammy-nominated song since 2002, their first single to crack pop radio’s Top 20 since 2005 and their first Hot 100 entry since 2007. On Sunday, the group’s new album, DNA, debuted at Number One, making it the ensemble’s first chart-topper since 2000.

Two factors helped boost the Backstreet Boys’ numbers. First, a bundle deal — which lumped copies of DNA in with tickets to the group’s summer tour — shrewdly capitalized on Nineties nostalgia.
