Shondaland's Grey's Anatomy has been one of ABC's best rated scripted drama since before the earth cooled. Last year, the hit factory introduced the Station 19 TV show, a new spin-off, set at a Seattle firehouse, where all the firefighters are EMTs. ‘Station 19’ Renewed For Season 3 By ABC With ‘Grey’s Anatomy’s Krista Vernoff As Showrunner

ABC has renewed its firefighter drama Station 19 for a third season with a familial new showrunner.

Krista Vernoff, who has helped revitalize Grey’s Anatomy since she rejoined the veteran medial drama in 2017 as executive producer/showrunner, will also take over the spinoff series in the same capacity, providing a seamless crossover narrative on both series.

She will replace Station 19 creator Stacy McKee who served as Ep/showrunner on the first two seasons before exiting last month.

Station 19 is one of three Shondaland renewals at ABC, along with record-breaking two-season pickup for Grey’s Anatomy and Season 6 order for How To Get Away with Murder. (Legal drama For the People has been canceled after two seasons.) All series hail from ABC Studios.

There will be plenty more fires to put out for Station 19: ABC has renewed the Grey’s Anatomy spinoff for Season 3, TVLine has learned. What’s more Grey’s Anatomy showrunner Krista Vernoff will also take control of Station 19, ensuring more connectivity between the parent series and its spinoff.

Averaging just shy of a 1.0 demo rating, Station 19 ranked third among all ABC dramas this season, behind Grey’s Anatomy and The Good Doctor.

‘Grey’s Anatomy,’ ‘How to Get Away With Murder’ and ‘Station 19’ Renewed at ABC

ABC is continuing its Thursday walks through Shondaland.

The Alphabet has renewed “Grey’s Anatomy” for record 16th and 17th seasons, “How to Get Away With Murder” for a sixth season, and “Station 19” for a third outing.

The network has also announced that “Grey’s” showrunner and Ep Krista Vernoff will be taking over showrunning duties for the spinoff “Station 19” as well.

“Everyone at Shondaland is thrilled that our fans’ commitment to Tgit continues,” said Shonda Rhimes and producing partner Betsy Beers in a joint statement. “We are so proud of Krista and Pete and the work they do. Making the choice to have Krista oversee ‘Station 19’ was easy — the creativity she brings to the ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ universe continues a tradition of storytelling we hold dear.”

Hey, "Station 19" fans. We hope you guys enjoyed tonight's episode 16. Now that it's officially aired and in the history books, it's time to direct our focus to the next, new episode 17. We want to point out that episode 17 is indeed the very last episode of this current second season. That's right, guys. After this one, you won't see another new episode for at least three months, and that's if gets renewed for a new season 3. We still haven't gotten official word on that yet. ABC has ordered a full season of sophomore firehouse drama “Station 19.”

The series, which comes from Shondaland and is a spinoff of medical drama staple “Grey’s Anatomy,” stars Jaina Lee Ortiz, Jason George, Boris Kodjoe, Grey Damon, Barrett Doss, Alberto Frezza, Jay Hayden, Okieriete Onaodowan, Danielle Savre and Miguel Sandoval. ABC has given a full-season order to sophomore firefighter drama Station 19. The number of additional episodes is not being revealed though I hear it’s 9, which would bring the Shondaland series’ second season to 22 episodes.

Station 19 got off to a solid Season 2 start behind Grey’s Anatomy, with its premiere on par with its Season 1 debut last midseason. The drama’ second episode, part of a Grey’s Anatomy crossover, popped to post series highs. On average, through its first two episodes, the ABC sophomore drama is drawing 7.9 million viewers with a 1.8 in adults 18-49. With no Grey’s last night, Station 19 was dinged, dropping to series lows.

Things are heating up in Seattle.

“Grey’s Anatomy” firefighter spin-off “Station 19” has been given a full-season order, ABC Entertainment president Channing Dungey announced Friday.

The series stars “Grey’s Anatomy” alum Jason George as Ben Warren, along with Jaina Lee Ortiz as Andy Herrera, Boris Kodjoe as Captain Robert Sullivan, Grey Damon as Jack Gibson, Barrett Doss as Victoria Hughes, Alberto Frezza as Ryan Tanner, Jay Hayden as Travis Montgomery, Okieriete Onaodowan as Dean Miller, Danielle Savre as Maya Bishop and Miguel Sandoval as Pruitt Herrera.

The drama is produced by ABC Studios. Stacy McKee (“Grey’s Anatomy”) serves as showrunner and executive producer, along with Shonda Rhimes and Betsy Beers. Paris Barclay (“Pitch” and “Sons of Anarchy”) serves as the producing director and executive producer of the series.
