See Mumford & Sons’ Intimate Record Store Sets in ’12 Years Strong’ Short Film

Mumford & Sons reflect on their career journey in their new Vevo short film, 12 Years Strong, which includes performances of “Guiding Light” and “Forever” featuring Americana resonator and lap steel guitarist Jerry Douglas.

“[2012’s sophomore album] Babel just blew up faster than we ever thought it might,” frontman Marcus Mumford says in the clip. “And we kinda closed the doors a bit more, and I think we lost some of the beauty of connecting with smaller audiences.”

The short film documents the band as they perform a series of small shows at record stores,

See Mumford and Sons’ Tackle Death and Dying in ‘Beloved’ Video

A young boy watches over his dying mother and fantasizes about better times with her in the video for Mumford and Sons’ new Delta single “Beloved.” The son and mother, who’s still wearing a hospital gown, run around, go shoplifting and ride horses on a beach. “Before you leave, you must know you are beloved,” Marcus Mumford sings against a serene backdrop of synths and guitars, “and before you leave, remember I was with you.” It all builds to an emotional finale.

“Everyone knows loss in one way or another,

‘Our Planet’ Trailer: Ambitious Netflix Nature Series Visits All Seven Continents

There are very few moments in life that confront you with the inescapable fact that whales’ mouths are unbelievably large. Sure, they’re the most massive creatures on the planet, but in most cases, whales are shown moving placidly through the water or diving up above the surface (or flying through clouds at a pulsating light in the sky).

But Netflix’s new series “Our Planet” has plenty of whales, in all their giant-mawed glory. The ambitious new nature doc series was filmed across 50 countries and claims to feature “never-before-seen footage of wildlife and their habitats.” The trailer below takes the large-scale world of underwater giants and focuses all the way down to the everyday life of tiny insects trying to survive in a giant forest.

It’s something the creative team behind the series, which also created “Planet Earth” and “Blue Planet,” has captured before, but never on quite this expansive scale.

See Mumford & Sons Cover Nine Inch Nails’ ‘Hurt’ in Cleveland
At Mumford & Sons’ Saturday concert in Cleveland, Ohio, the British folk act paid unexpected tribute to hometown rockers Nine Inch Nails with a cover of “Hurt.”

The acoustic rendition of The Downward Spiral closer resembled both Trent Reznor’s original version and the mournful take that Johnny Cash released in 2002.

The surprise “Hurt,” which Mumford & Sons performed live for the first time, comes a day after the 25th anniversary of The Downward Spiral‘s release, Stereogum noted.

Mumford & Sons is currently touring North America in support of their fourth album,

Mumford & Sons’ third album Delta has proved the band’s success is not slowing down; it debuted at Number One and has taken them around the world, selling out multiple nights in the same cities.

The band have just announced the second single for the album will be “Beloved,” a song singer Marcus Mumford wrote after witnessing the death of his grandmother. Marcus Mumford on Hanging With Noel Gallagher, Yawning at the Royal Wedding
Marcus Mumford doesn’t get nervous a lot. But he admits he’s a little apprehensive the day before Mumford & Sons release their fourth album, Delta, and launch a 63-date arena tour. The band spent months working on the LP, looking for a balance between the folk singalongs of its first two albums and 2015’s plugged-in Wilder Mind. A new single, “Guiding Light,” combines acoustic strumming with a dance beat; elsewhere, the group pulled from its love of electronic music and hip-hop.

“Our hope is that people enjoy it with us,

Watch Mumford & Sons Perform Inspiring ‘Guiding Light’ on ‘SNL’

Mumford & Sons shifted their own musical boundaries with the release of their fourth album Delta, returning to the acoustic instrumentation that dominated their first two records and blending electronica, jazz and rap elements together.

For the band’s third appearance as musical guest on Saturday Night Live, Mumford & Sons opted to open their set with a track that was sonically familiar to fans, but more radical to the group who had moved to electric guitars and stadium anthems for their most recent albums.

For their first performance on the Jason Momoa-hosted episode,

Review: Mumford and Sons’ Epic Bummer ‘Delta’

Mumford & Sons became one of the most unlikely success stories of the 21st century thanks to a sound that combined the ancient authenticity of banjo-hammering folk music and the polished, anthemic pump of modern rock — like a horse and buggy designed in a Tesla factory.

But the Mums weren’t satisfied to spend life staging hoedowns in sold-out hockey arenas, so they ditched acoustic instruments and plugged in for their third LP, 2015’s Wilder Mind, an indie-rock-steeped affair recorded in Brooklyn with Aaron Dessner of the National that doubled down

Review: Tom Morello Stirs Up Rap-Rock-edm Fury on ‘The Atlas Underground’

Review: Tom Morello Stirs Up Rap-Rock-edm Fury on ‘The Atlas Underground’
Tom Morello understands sick beats, activist rhymes, and weaponized noise. Matching rappers and rockers with Edm producers, The Atlas Underground brings all the above in the spirit of the early ‘00s, when mash-up maestros like Freelance Hellraiser and Soulwax reframed the possible in pop.

In 2018, of course, these styles are inextricably intertwined, so even unlikely matches unfold like no-brainers. “How Long” combines Steve Aoki’s gnarly sci-fi bass drops with the polyp-shredding punk howl of Rise Against’s Tim McIlrath, who demands “How long can we dance around/The hungry mouths/The burning streets?

Tom Morello Teams With Portugal. The Man for ‘Every Step That I Take’ on ‘Kimmel’
Tom Morello recruited Portugal. The Man and Whethan for a scintillating rendition of “Every Step That I Take,” a track off the guitarist’s new Edm-influenced LP The Atlas Underground, on Jimmy Kimmel Live. The rendition served as a showcase for Morello to unleash his six-string fireworks, with the guitarist dropping an astounding solo toward the latter half of the collaboration.

Morello previously revealed that “Every Step That I Take” was dedicated to his late Audioslave band mate Chris Cornell, and that he had partnered with the Save (Suicide Awareness Voices of Education) organization.

Tom Morello’s Edm-Fueled Revolution: Inside ‘The Atlas Underground’

Tom Morello’s Edm-Fueled Revolution: Inside ‘The Atlas Underground’
Tom Morello has made plenty of big, brazen sounds in his career with Rage Against the Machine and other projects. But even by his standards, his first solo album under his own name is a noisy one.

“I’ve been secretly toiling away on this record,” he says of The Atlas Underground, which arrives October 12th with a decked-out lineup of guests that includes Marcus Mumford, Big Boi, Steve Aoki, and more. “The notion from the very start was to forge this sonic conspiracy of these artists from wide-ranging genres who are like-minded,

The other day Jenna Coleman gave birth for the seventh time. “I feel like my year has been literally maternity bras and pregnancy bumps,” she says over a cup of tea in a cafénear her home in north London. “It’s becoming a parody now.” Before you start to worry about the medical anomaly that is Coleman’s uterus, rest assured it was all for the cameras. Rather, the viewing audience votes for the acts that they want to see move on to the semifinals based on their performances in this two-hour episode.

Twelve acts are set to take to the stage to perform on Tuesday. Only seven will make the cut and still be in with a chance to win the $1 million grand prize and an opportunity to headline at a Las Vegas casino showroom. Three of these dozen hopefuls for the season 13 championship earned the coveted Golden Buzzer at their auditions, which allowed them to bypass the judge cuts phase and prepare for the live shows. Big Boi Performs Buoyant ‘All Night’ on ‘Fallon’

Big Boi Performs Buoyant ‘All Night’ on ‘Fallon’
Big Boi performed “All Night,” a soulful single from his 2017 LP, Boomiverse, on Tuesday’s Tonight Show.

The Outkast member recruited his longtime collaborator Sleepy Brown, along with DJ and trio of backing vocalists, for the song. Big Boi bounced joyfully across the stage, alternating between rapping and singing over the jaunty piano hook and theremin-like tones. The Atlanta emcee closed the track with a dash of silliness, performing some delightful air-keyboard.

Big Boi released “All Night” as a single in July 2017, but the song earned wider exposure from a
