Fun Trailer For The Coming-of-Age Teen Summer Comedy Summer '03

I've got a trailer here for you to watch for a fantastic-looking teenage coming-of-age film called Summer '03. I've actually heard good things about this movie and I'm looking forward to checking it out.

The film stars Joey King in the role of 16-year-old Jamie. The film is based on the true-life events of Jamie and her extended family "who are left reeling after her calculating grandmother (June Squibb) unveils an array of family secrets on her deathbed. Jamie is left to navigate her nascent love life and maintain her closest friendships in the midst of this family crisis."

The film was written and directed by Becca Gleason and also stars Andrea Savage (Veep), Paul Scheer (The League), Jack Kilmer (The Nice Guys) and Erin Darke (Good Girls Revolt). Summer ’03 is set to hit theaters September 28th.

Sales to commence in Cannes on SXSW selection.

Blue Fox Entertainment has acquired worldwide rights to Becca Gleason’s SXSW selection Summer ’03, a coming of age story that Blue Fox International will screen for buyers in Cannes.

Joey King, Andrea Savage, Paul Scheer, Jack Kilmer, Erin Darke, and June Squib star in the story of a 16-year-old who, confronted with a string of family secrets from her dying grandmother, is forced to navigate relationships amid the family crisis.

Blue Fox’s domestic distribution unit will release Summer ’03 in the Us in autumn.

Exclusive: Blue Fox Entertainment has boarded world rights to writer-director Becca Gleason’s SXSW debut Summer 03, starring Joey King (Independence Day: Resurgence).

Todd Slater brokered the deal on behalf of U.S. sales firm Blue Fox while ICM and UTA’s Grace Royer negotiated on behalf of the filmmakers. Blue Fox’s distribution arm will release the movie domestically this fall.

SXSW 2018 Women Directors: Meet Becca Gleason — “Summer ‘03”

Becca Gleason is the writer and director of three short films which made the rounds on the festival circuit; her directorial debut, “Molly,” won the Lacma Young Directors award, and her second short, “We,” sold to Sundance Now for TV development. Gleason has since spent the past few years directing series and shorts for digital companies AwesomenessTV and NewForm Digital. “Summer ’03” is her feature debut.

“Summer ’03” will premiere at the 2018 SXSW Film Festival on March 10.

W&H: Describe the film for us in your own words.

Bg: “Summer ’03” is a small fraction of what it was like to grow up in suburban Ohio in the early oughts. We follow Jamie Winkle, who is played by Joey King, through one week in the summer of 2003 after Dottie, her grandmother, and matriarch of the family, passes away.

SXSW 2018 Lineup Includes New Films from Jody Hill, Andrew Bujalski, Julia Hart & More

With Sundance 2018 wrapped up, the next major American festival is South by Southwest Film Festival and today they’ve announced their lineup. Opening with John Krasinski’s horror film A Quiet Place, it also includes some of our most-anticipated films of the year: Jody Hill’s Observe & Report follow-up The Legacy of a Whitetail Deer Hunter (which Netflix has announced they’ll release), Andrew Bujalski’s Support the Girls, and Julia Hart’s Miss Stevens follow-up, the sci-fi film Fast Color (pictured above) starring Gugu Mbatha-Raw.

SXSW 2018: John Krasinski’s A Quiet Place Announced as Opening Night Film

"If they hear you, they hunt you." Before it's released in theaters this April, John Krasinski's new post-apocalyptic movie A Quiet Place will have its world premiere as the opening night movie at South by Southwest.

Set in a post-apocalyptic world that's been ravaged by monsters attracted by sound, A Quiet Place was directed and co-written by John Krasinski, who also co-stars alongside Emily Blunt, Noah Jupe, and Millicent Simmonds.

Part of the Headliners screening slate, A Quiet Place will make its world premiere on March 9th ahead of the film's April 6th theatrical release from Paramount Pictures. This marks the third feature film behind the camera for Krasinski, who directed Brief Interviews with Hideous Men and The Hollars, as well as three episodes of The Office, on which he played the iconic character of Jim Halpert.

SXSW top brass on Wednesday (January 31) said the world premiere of John Krasinski’s A Quiet Place will open the 25th edition of the festival, which runs in Austin, Texas, from March 9-18.

Krasinski directed and stars in horror-thriller A Quiet Place alongside his wife Emily Blunt in the tale of an isolated family living in silence for fear of attack by an unknown force than tracks sound. Platinum Dunes produced the feature, which opens in the Us through on April 6 through Paramount.

SXSW launches the inaugural Independent Episodic section this year, an expansion on the Episodic section launched in 2014. Overall, the festival will screen 132 features, with additional titles to be announced.

New Form Debuts 3 Pilots, Including Gaby Dunn Dark Comedy ‘Love Me Do’

Digital production studio New Form, which is behind noted series like Miss 2059 and Mr. Student Body President, debuted three brand new series pilots at the 2017 Austin Film Festival over the weekend.

The first project, created by and starring former BuzzFeed staffer-turned-comedy vlogger Gaby Dunn, is titled Love Me Do. The dark comedy follows a young woman whose alcoholic father moves in with her fresh after a stint at rehab. Small Talk, created by screenwriter Becca Gleason, is about two exes who meet by chance after years. Finally, Press Start -- created by Dave Child and Evan Beamer -- is about a gamer at a dead-end job who discovers that his life is literally a video game.
