Saaho Music Review

  • Bollyspice
Post Bahubali, Bollywood audiences have eagerly awaited the return of the young star of Telugu cinema Prabhas. While there have been delays, Prabhas is back on screens with Saaho, another trilingual super blockbuster hitting screens at the end of August 2019. This super action with a plot with more twists then the clockwork instrument in the trailer, this releases as Bollywood’s 3rd most expensive film of all time. Its music has also been spared no expense with Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, Baadshah, Guru Randhawa and Taniskh Bagchi all being asked to deliver 1 song each for all the releasing languages. What comes out is a 15-minute album for listeners as below.

From the mind of Taniskh Bagchi comes a non-remake off-beat hip hop sound Psycho Saiyaan. Sung in Hindi by Yazin Nizar, Dhvani Bhanushali and Tanishk himself, there’s plenty of synth and interesting use of sheenai and tabla in the background to this club dance number.

Neeti Mohan talks about gender inequality in the music industry!

Playback singer Neeti Mohan says she has observed that a woman gets fewer lines in a duet track for a film, but personally, she emphasizes on the importance of a song rather than the length of her part.

Neeti told the publication: "I think last year, I was feeling it too much that the female part in a duet song is much shorter than the male part in the song, but I think it is slowly changing. This year I did not have such a song."

"In my song 'First Class' from the film Kalank, I was okay with the shorter part in the duet because it was to praise the man. In the Bharat?song 'Aithey aa' also I have a substantial part. My problem starts when I see that in a situation when the girl is telling her feeling, say crying or laughing, the song is sung by a male singer.

See what Aparshakti has to say on Kudiye ni

Actor-singer Aparshakti Khurana, who is receiving a positive response for his debut song "Kudiye ni", says initially the song was almost locked for one of Varun Dhawan's films, and that it was the actor who gave him the confidence to release it as a single.

Sharing the story, Aparshakti told a publication: "Honestly, when I wrote the song, I had no idea that it will be released as an independent video the way it has come out now... I came to T-Series, in fact, thinking if we could use the song for any film.

"The fact is that the song is based so much on Chandigarh that if I take out those lines from the song, it loses its essence. Now, because getting an exact situation to fit the song was difficult for a film... ?Kudiye ni' was almost locked for a film, but then we had to change the plan.

Bharat Music Review

The trailer for Bharat ends with the line “Desh logon se banta hai, aur logon ke pechan unki pariwar se hoti hai” delivered by Jackie Shroff to his son Bharat in a flashback. This seems to be the key motif to this year’s Eid thriller for the masses, Bharat, starring Salman Khan, Katrina Kaif and Disha Patani. With this line, all that came in the previous 2:40 of the trailer boils down to 1 man, 1 country but it’s obvious that director Ali Abbas Zafar will be taking audiences on a fast-paced ride filled both with pride and power. Julius Packiam and Vishal-Shekhar come together to deliver an all-round score for this epic story spanning the history of both Bharat the man and Bharat the country based on the South Korean story “Ode to my Father”.

The album opens in Slow Motion as Salman and Disha Patani dance to a

Student of The Year 2 Music Review

Any follow up film, especially one that doesn’t take the same characters across into the sequel has a hard time finding acceptance. For those who watched the original, the questions of how will the story or new cast live upto what came before. For those who haven’t the question is will this movie make it worthwhile to watch the old one. This is the complex which Student of the Year 2 finds itself in as it finds a place in Bollywood, maybe even replacing its prequel. It would be hard to state that Tiger, Tara and Ananya would be as strong a combination as Siddharth, Alia and Varun but in 2012 no one knew what these 3 were capable of so only time will tell. Produced by Karan Johar, no expense has been spared on music directors with superhit teams Vishal-Shekhar and Salim-Suleiman being asked to provide the 6 songs that make up this album.

Kalank Music Review

Kalank is probably the biggest film of 2019 so far taking that title from some strong movies already released. As the title suggests, its main prerogative is to deal with one mistake and its consequences. To this end a superstar cast led by Madhuri Dixit with Sanjay Dutt in tow, Aditya Roy Kapoor and Sonakshi Sinha and finally young lovers Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan will show from different perspectives the meanings behind and around Kalank. Since budget is of no consequence Pritam has been asked to deliver 10 strong pieces to create a soundtrack that will rival the story, giving plenty of chance for all to dance.

Ghar More Pardesiya is the first song of this album and in itself is easily a contender for song of the year. From the Youtube clip, Madhuri sings for dancers she seems to be training and then is taken over by a stunning performance

Hate Story IV Music Review

Tanishk Bagchi certainly is a music composer on the rise. Having been introduced in Tanu Weds Manu Returns with the song ‘Banno’, he’s gone on to compose many more songs. In fact, he has been responsible for some very touching folk rhythms and a lot of remakes that is now part and parcel of Bollywood culture. He does seem an odd choice for Hate Story IV, which on the outside is both a sequel that isn’t a sequel and from its premise that is looking more towards the raunchy than the traditional. On the Ost, he is ably given a hand by Arko Mukherjee, Mithoon and other guest directors, each bringing unique talents to make for a rounded and complete soundtrack. There are eight songs in total here, which has not been the recent trend, so a lot of emphasis has been given to the musical sound to add to the film.

From bringing on lots of ‘masti’ and ‘mazaa’ that goes with the mood and spirit of Dil Juunglee, the makers have now unleashed an out and out romantic number in the form of ‘Dil Jaane Naa’. Apparently, the song plays a major role in playing cupid for the couple.

Padmaavat Music Review

Period pieces bring a new level of challenge and difficulty for the music director as your imagination must be limited to what would exist within that era. Thus, Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmaavat has no club songs or rap breaks in it. However, this limitation is normal fare for this music director who brings us an album not only for the time but for the place the film is set in. Following on from Bajirao Mastani this album gives us another flavour of the capability of Slb to immerse ourselves into the film as an audience.

We begin the soundtrack with the now famous Ghoomar. A Rajasthani folk song from start to end, viewers will get a festival experience with Deepika Padukone. If the trailer is to be believed the song allows Deepika to show off her dance skills while avoiding the faster beats of dandiya. Swaroop Khan gives a
