Simon Pegg Takes Rare Villain Role in Action-Thriller Becky

Kirsten Howard May 13, 2019

Simon Pegg will be terrorizing a teen at a lake house in the new movie, Becky.

Directors Jonathan Milott and Cary Murnion, who brought us 2017's disappointing Dave Bautista-heavy outing Bushwick, are lining up the main cast for their next project, an action-thriller currently called Becky, which is due to start filming in a few months.

In a rare move, Simon Pegg has signed up to be the central villain of the piece, starring opposite Annabelle: Creation's Lulu Wilson. Pegg tends to feature primarily as a lovable sort on screen, but this new role is set to test him beyond the limits of turns like The Editor in Doctor Who's "The Long Game" (didn't he also play a character based on Toby Young? - Ed).

Via Deadline, the story of Becky centres on Wilson's Becky (natch) "a rebellious 13-year-old who is brought to a weekend getaway

Bushwick and a Modern Fiery Fairy Tale: A Film Review

Tagline: "The New Civil War Has Begun." Directors: Cary Murnion and Jonathan Milott. Writers: Nick Damici and Graham Reznick Cast: Dave Bautista, Brittany Snow and Angelic Zambrana. Bushwick is an action thriller, which had its premiere at the Sundance Film Festival. Starring former pro-wrestler Dave Bautista and Brittany Snow (Pitch Perfect, 2012), the film tries to answer the question: what if Texas seceded from the United States? Naturally, they would attack Bushwick! a suburb of Brooklyn. Writers Nick Damici (Stakeland II) and Graham Reznick have offered a modern retelling of the Grimm Brothers' Little Red Riding Hood, as Lucy (Snow) attempts to get to Granny's house. The path is littered with gunfire as the big bad wolf gets in the way. As well, much of the film is shot via long takes, with a steadicam. This shooting technique puts the viewer right in close with the characters. Meanwhile, there is a

Bushwick movie review: don’t mess with Brooklyn

MaryAnn’s quick take… There’s fierce tension in this breathless urban survival thriller as anarchy comes to New York streets. Terrific, innovative low-budget action filmmaking. I’m “biast” (pro): nothing

I’m “biast” (con): nothing

(what is this about? see my critic’s minifesto)

Terrified, baffled, and on the verge of becoming a victim of the sudden lawlessness, Lucy teams up with reluctant veteran Stupe (Dave Bautista: Blade Runner 2049) as they both attempt to get to safety… if such a place exists. The less you know about Bushwick (named for Lucy and Stupe’s working-class
