Jesse Cornplanter was a member of the Seneca Nation of the Haudenosaunee (Iroquois Confederacy). He was born on the Cattaraugus Reservation in upstate New York and was a descendant of Cornplanter, the famous Seneca war chief during the American Revolutionary War.
