Earlier this year, videogame development and publishing company Ubisoft announced interest in bringing a few of their popular titles to the big screen. They were so interested, in fact, that they decided to fly out to Hollywood – Ubisoft is a French company – and start seeking out development partners. Company heads claimed that they had several meetings with interested studios already lined-up, but at the time, it wasn't immediately clear who was actually involved.
According to Variety, it looks like Sony Pictures are on the cusp of finalizing a deal to adapt the popular "Assassin's Creed
" games into a film franchise.
Both Ubisoft and Sony are still tight-lipped about the details, with the game studio reiterating that they are "actively looking for film opportunities for our top brands," but had "no specific news to share at this time."
