The Bye Bye Man Trailer #1: If You Know Who He Is, You’re Dead

This year may very well be one of the best for the horror genre in recent memory. In 2016 alone, we had The Conjuring 2, Lights Out, The Blair Witch, Don’t Breathe, and 10 Cloverfield Lane. Okay, admittedly the last two aren’t technically horror films (they may be more low-key thrillers), but seeing as they were heavily advertised as such, I don’t think it’s unfair to lump them into the category. This steady stream of decent horror flicks has definitely done a lot to help me become more open to the genre, which I’d never been too crazy about due to its tired jump-scare tropes.

Hollywood seems to have figured out that in order to truly excel in horror, the focus needs to be on the creepy idea more than snazzy filmmaking and audio design techniques. Does this mean that every film will be a home run?
