Amazon developing Jack Reacher TV series

Back in November of last year, Jack Reacher author Lee Child revealed that the brakes had been applied to the Tom Cruise-headlined movie franchise, with plans to reboot the property on the small screen.

Well, it seems a deal has now been struck, as THR is reporting that Scorpion creator Nick Santora is working on a TV adaptation of the books for Amazon Prime Video, which has secured the rights after a competitive bidding situation.

The Jack Reacher books follow the title character, a military veteran now working as a freelance investigator and problem-solver. They have sold over 100 million copies, and spawned feature film adaptations in 2012 and 2016.

The films did come in for criticism from fans over the casting of Tom Cruise, who at 5′ 7″ is some 10 inches shorter than the book version of Reacher, and Child admitted back in November that Cruise wasn’t the right fit in terms of height and physicality.
