Storyline

Through all the trials and tribulations a boy is having in getting a photograph taken to give to the girl he loves and wants to marry, the boy learns from the photographer that the girl is already scheduled to marry someone else that afternoon, the wedding which the boy is too late to stop. In getting over the girl, the boy can focus in on the fact that he only has two more payments until the shiny new motorized vehicle in his outdoor shed will be his outright. On a day out to appear in a community theater production, the boy finds that the car and associated items are giving him more trouble than he wants. His difficulty in getting to the theater because of the car may inadvertently provide him an opportunity to win back the girl. Written by Huggo

Trivia

In an early close-up in the photography studio, you can really see the damage Lloyd suffered to his face in the prop bomb explosion that occurred at the Witzel Studio on 14 August 1919. His face would eventually heal, but he lost the thumb and forefinger of right hand and he adopted the use of a prosthetic rubber glove (which looked unnaturally stiff) for the remainder of his film career. Goofs

When Harold pulls over to fix his car he takes off his hat and puts it on the car. When the little boy comes over to watch, the hat disappears and then reappears within several shots in the scene. See more »

Get Out and Get Under (1920)

** 1/2 (out of 4)

A young actor (Harold Lloyd) must rush to get to his play but his car starts all sorts of trouble. There's a few nice laughs here, including some nice bits with a young kid and a dog but some of the gags don't work as well. There's some amazing stunts including one where Lloyd jumps out of the car while it continues down the road. Lloyd must then catch back up with it. Another scene has the car going through thousands of people, which looks quite amazing. This was one of Lloyd's first films after a bomb exploded in his hand, nearly killing him and in a few close ups you can still see the scars on his face.
