Sex & Nudity

  • It is implied that Romeo are having sex on their wedding night, but we never see them in bed together. Juliet is in bed, while Romeo, according to the dictates of the Production Code of the time, is kissing her, but with both feet on the floor. Neither of them are nude, or wearing anything revealing.
  • The nurse makes some bawdy jokes in Elizabethan English, as does Mercutio.
